Mexico suffers so much because of its position on a large grid of tectonic plates, on which all the Earth's countries and seas sit. This is what is properly known as the Pacific Ring of Fire where the Philippines and the neighboring countries are situated.
"Ring of Fire" is a horseshoe shaped area around the edges of the Pacific Ocean, from Australia to the Andes, along which 90% of all earthquakes occur, hence the name "Pacific Ring Of Fire."
The recent Central Mexico quake has left at least 116 people killed and hundreds injured. People flood to the streets in fear of being buried alive under buildings which are unexpectedly collapsing.
However, the Department of Foreign affairs said that there are no reported casualties or injuries involving Filipinos. DFA records as of 2016 shows that there are about 635 Filipinos in the country.
