SSS members who become sick can claim for sickness benefits. However, the sickness benefit may vary depending on the monthly contribution of the member.

Sickness Benefit Computation
The amount of a member's sickness benefit per day is equivalent to ninety percent (90%) of the member's average daily salary credit.
Benefit Computation:
1. Exclude the semester of sickness. -A quarter refers to three consecutive months ending March, June, September or December. -A semester refers to two consecutive quarters ending in the quarter of sickness.
Example: An SSS member got sick for 20 days on the month of September 2012.
The quarter of sickness will include the months of July, August and September.
And the semester of sickness will be from April 2012 to September 2012. The semester of sickness will be excluded in the computation.
2. Count 12 months backwards starting from the month immediately before the semester of sickness.
3. Identify the six (6) highest MSCs within the 12-month period. Monthly salary credit (MSC) means the compensation base for contributions and benefits related to the total earnings for the month.
The maximum covered earnings or compensation is P16,000, effective January 1, 2014. Please refer to the following table:

4. Add the six (6) highest MSCs to get the total MSC. 5. Divide the total MSC by 180 days to get the ADSC. 6. Multiply the ADSC by ninety percent (90%) to get the daily sickness allowance.
7. Multiply the daily sickness allowance by the approved number of days to arrive at the amount of benefit due.
With our example the daily sickness allowance is P 450. To get the amount of sickness benefit that Juan will receive we arrive on the following computation: P 450 x 20 days = P 9,000.00 Juan will be receiving P 9,000 worth of sickness benefit.
How many days in a year can a member avail of the sickness benefit?
A member can be granted sickness benefit for a maximum of 120 days in one (1) calendar year. Any unused portion of the allowable 120 days sickness benefit cannot be carried forward nor added to the total number of allowed compensable days for the following year. The sickness benefit shall be paid for not more than 240 days on account of the same illness. If the sickness or injury still persists after 240 days, the claim will be considered a disability claim.
UPDATE: NBI to start issuing multi-purpose clearance starting October 2
Beginning October 2, the National Bureau of Investigation will no longer require people applying for an NBI clearance to specify the purpose of the application. NBI Director Dante Gierran said the bureau has changed the format of its NBI clearance form to now bear the phrase “Issued for whatever legal purpose,” instead of a specific purpose such as local or overseas employment and travel abroad. The NBI will start issuing the new multi-purpose clearance, costing P115, following a memo from Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II. "Existing NBI clearance forms shall be used for this purpose using the NBI clearance printing program employed by the Information and Communications Technology Division," Gierran said.
All NBI clearance processing centers nationwide have until September 18 to post an announcement in "conspicuous places" of their respective offices about the implementation of the multi-purpose clearance. source: GMA

Now, the National Bureau of Investigation has upgraded their system to make it easier and more convenient for those who needed to secure NBI Clearance even through your mobile phone. Below is the 3 step process:
1. Go towww.nbi.gov.ph or www.clearance.nbi.gov.ph and register. After registering, their system will set the appointment date and you have to pay for the NBI clearance. The system will also generate a registration code or reference number which will serve as your gate pass to the NBI Clearance Center later.
Payment can be done using online banking, or to the bank to pay. Other payment options are through the Bayad Center, LBC or mobile payment system.
2. You will have to visit the NBI Clearance Center, don't forget to present your registration code and reference number. This time they will take your photo and biometrics.
3. You may print your NBI clearance.

For applicants who don't have internet access, the NBI main office in Manila has computer work stations which can be used free of charge. THE FOLLOWING IS THE STEP BY STEP PROCESS POSTED AT THE NBI WEBSITE
For users who have previously registered online, enter your previously registered email address and password. For new users, fill out the form to register. Only one valid email account per user/applicant is allowed.
After saving your information, click on the APPLY FOR CLEARANCE button to continue
Indicate application type: new application, or renewal for those with 2014 NBI clearance certificates. Note: For new applicants, enter your valid ID. For renewal, enter the NBI ID number on your old NBI certificate
You will be asked to schedule your personal appearance at any NBI center. Select your preferred NBI branch, date, and time of appointment. Shaded boxes indicate vacant slots.
Fill out the PAYMENT INFORMATION section by indicating the purpose of your application and choosing your method of payment.
To verify the status of your application, you may click on the Transaction button found at the left side of the pane. Check your email for payment confirmation or click on Confirm Payment found at the Status column of the Transactions window. You may also click on the Payment Instruction found at the Message column of the Transactions window for further instructions.
You are now done and ready to appear on your preferred appointment schedule for the capture of your fingerprint biometrics and photographs.
7. Multiply the daily sickness allowance by the approved number of days to arrive at the amount of benefit due.
