Currency-exchange Owner Offers HKD100 To Stranded Peya Travels OFW Clients

A currency exchange owner in Hong Kong offers HK$100 for each of the stranded OFWs due to Peya travel agency fraud.

Franki, owner of exchange company chains in Hong Kong  which is operating for over 3 decades, said that most of his clients are Filipina domestic workers who remits their hard-earned money to their family back home.


He also said that he has Filipino employees as well and he found them hard-working and kindhearted.

He allocated a total of HK$50,000 from his own pocket to help 500 maids stranded by the agency's botched operation, who just need to show their booking records to get HK$100 which was availed by around 60 domestic workers already.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong authorities has already arrested the owner of Peya travel agency. Abot more than 500 OFWs had been stranded at the Hong Kong airport due to the tickets that they purchased from the travel agency which are not honored by the airline companies. The OFWs was set to travel and spend their Christmas in the Philippines but were not able to do it due to the incident.


 Rhea Donna Boyce, Peya travel proprietress was arrested on Monday by Hong Kong Police and confiscated the computers they are using with conspiracy to defraud charges.

About 645 OFWs has filed their complaints against Peya, a case which involves about HKD2 million.
Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong encourages the victims to come to their office and give their statements..
