A Maid was Jailed for Three Months For Stealing from Her Sponsor

Filipina maid has been given a jail term of three months by Dubai Court of First Instance for stealing AED 44,000 from the safe of the family her employer in June. The sponsors wife was trying to call their 38-year-old Filipina maid on her phone but the maid's phone was switched off, so she told her Syrian husband about the matter.According to a report by Gulf News, when they reached their residence at Al Warqa'a , the couple found out that the maid was gone as well as their AED 44,000 from the safe.  The maid was apprehended by the police a few days later. The maid denied the accusations saying in court that "I did not steal."   The police sergeant who handled the investigation testified in court that during questioning, the maid admitted that she took her passport and ID card from a cupboard and Dh500 from a drawer in the bedroom before she left her employer'the flat. When the maid was asked about what she wants from the court, she said she wants to be sent back to the Philippines.
