Pickpockets and thieves are everywhere. They are on the streets, in restaurants, malls, terminals, churches (and even in the internet, they are parasites that feed on everything that other people worked hard for). They work alone or in groups and even ready to inflict harm if confronted. They victimized people who look vulnerable and easy to destruct such as students elderly and in some cases OFWs who are enjoying their vacation in the Philippines. They lurk in busy and crowded places . Like in the case of an OFW who was walking with his family in the crowded street of Pasay. He lost a mobile phone as 7 accomplices squeeze their way to the victim who was at that time, have his both hands occupied with goods. The incident was caught on CCTV camera.
The OFW was spotted by the group that is composed of 7 people while having a snack at a nook near the MRT Taft Ave. Station with his family. When the OFW and his family finally moved and walk, the group surrounded the family and squeezed through them, the OFW, unaware of what is happening continued to walk when he suddenly felt that his mobile phone he kept on his pocket was gone. A concerned citizen who witnessed the crime at a distance told him that his mobile phone was passed to a nearby woman. The OFW grabbed her arm until he retrieved the mobile phone. The police said that there are several complaints about the place of rampant pickpocketing incidents. The only problem is that, after the victim has retrieved their belongings, they do not file and pursue the case anymore. For that reason, the pickpockets are still out of the prison and roaming everywhere looking for their prey.
