“The [DFA]…informs the public that its Consular Offices (COs) and [TOPS] located in malls in areas where at least Alert Level 3 is raised will not be able to accommodate unvaccinated individuals, including minors, due to the restrictions imposed by their host malls barring the entry of unvaccinated persons,” paliwanag ng DFA.

“Consular Offices are unable to override the host malls’ security and health protocols,” dagdag pa nito.

“The Department requests the public’s cooperation as it strives to deliver passport services to the public while ensuring the public’s safety and health amidst the ongoing pandemic,” pahayag ng DFA.

Who Can Skip Online Appointment And Use The DFA Courtesy Lane For Passport Processing?

Filipinos who want to apply for a passport or renew their passports can do it online by making an appointment.
Since walk-ins applicants are no longer allowed, the first step is to go to www.passport.gov.ph to secure a slot for an appointment schedule. The website is on a first-come, first-serve basis and tends to be already fully booked for several months back. This is why booking for a slot would allow you to be in two months ahead of the application. Overseas Filipino workers (OFW) are among the list of those who can apply for passport renewal without an appointment through the DFA Consular Office Courtesy Lane.

No Advance Payment, No Passport Appointment in DFA-ASEANA

To avoid no-show and to prevent fixers from reserving slots and selling them to passport applicants, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) now requires prepayment for passport application and renewal. Last April 14, DFA has started its e-payment system in ASEANA with a goal to make passport processing faster and more convenient. In an advisory, DFA said that starting April 14, all passport application and renewal appointments at the DFA-Aseana site will require pre-payment via its Passport e-payment facility. The e-payment system allows passport applicants to pay the processing fee through banks and other platforms. Cimafranca said this system is expected to prevent fixers from reserving slots and selling them to passport applicants. It is also seen to improve show-up rates.

If a consolidated version out of this three laws or even one of this would come into law, this is a great help for our modern day heroes, our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). These 2018 three bills are being filed in the House of Representatives seeking to provide retirement benefits and welfare assistance to OFWs

The Canadian government will no longer accept an application for permanent residency from caregivers starting November 2019. Because of this, applicants to the program including many Filipino caregivers are unhappy with the news. The Philippines is among the top source of Canada's caregiver.

Every Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) should be an active member of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Through this membership, OFWs can avail of loans, acquire scholarship from TESDA, and avail of livelihood and entrepreneurship seminars and other reintegration programs upon their return to the Philippines.
