In Demand College Courses Which Only A Few Take Up



Every year, thousands of new graduates add to the number of unemployed in the Philippines. Many of which are being employed in jobs which are not related to the courses. DOLE said that job mismatch is the usual problem while only a few take up the courses which are in great demand for local and overseas employment.

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) said that it is better to know which jobs are needed among the industries where you can land a sure high earning job after completing college.    "There is a mismatch, it has been going on for a long time now... there is domestic demand, there is global demand, and it is a tricky situation sometimes to address all of these simultaneously," said CHED OIC Dr. Prospero de Vera.    Among the courses which are in demand for employment here and abroad are metallurgical engineers, environmental engineers, at sanitation engineers as well as dentistry and graphics animation.     Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) also said that jobs which are in demand today are construction related skills such as welder, plumber, electrician, and construction worker for "Build, Build, Build" projects of the government.    There is also a great demand for workers in the agriculture sector according to Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
