Another four countries in Europe will soon to hire Filipino workers and possibly be the next destination for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). According to reports, there is great demand for Filipino workers in Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, and Austria. Some representatives of Philippine Association of Service Exporters Inc. (PASEI) will go to the aforementioned four countries in Europe to discuss the possible opportunities for OFWs. Four countries primarily need healthcare professionals such as nurses and caregivers according to PASEI President Elsa Villa. She added they have an aging society where special care is needed. Villa said infrastructure project in Poland needs a lot of carpenters and construction workers. "They have many craftsmen who are skilled but they tend to leave the country. There are no workers for many projects in Poland," Villa said. On the other hand, Czech Republic is in need of IT professionals and transportation experts. With this PASEI is hoping for a positive outcome of their talks with representatives of four European countries. Bernard Olalia, the administrator of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), said that there must be a bilateral agreement between the Philippines and the said countries if there are a large-scale deployment of OFWs. This is to ensure the safety of Filipinos in the above-mentioned countries. It is earlier reported that more than 300 skilled workers are now needed in Prague, capital of Czech Republic, for the next three months. According to Abs-Cbn Report, applicants are not required to have college degrees and only need to have basic knowledge of electronics, information technology, and other related technical jobs. Prague is looking to hire 1,000 Filipinos by the end of 2018.
