13 Things To Avoid Posting on Facebook When You Are Applying For A Job

Social media especially Facebook becomes a part of our daily lives. When we are happy, sad, dismay, angry, frustrated, excited and every feeling we have, often times we publish a post about it. We post as well our gimmicks, travel, and other activities we have in Facebook to keep us active and show the world, what we are doing. But if you are applying for a job, you should be very careful in what you post in social media.

"Remember that some recruiters and managers would usually take a look at your social media account as part of their due diligence and whatever they see could influence their decision, whether to hire you or not," according to Philjobnet, a web-based labor market.

Here are 13 Things that are No-No's in Social Media, especially in Facebook!

1. Pictures of you drinking, it may be an old picture or a new one it shouldn't be there out there on the internet.

2. Photos that make you look bad in any way if you feel that you have posts that will make you look unprofessional you may want to take it down.

3. Tags from friends who make you look silly or irresponsible. Sometimes we have friends who like posting or tagging us inappropriate posts.

4. Nude pictures of any kind is a big no-no, you should never post these kinds of photos on your page if want to get hired.

5. Political posts that will show your affiliations, it's safer not to be associated with any political party or movement, it makes you a more attractive candidate than if you are a known supporter of a political figure.

6. Foul language, of course, is another thing to eliminate on your online folio, if ever you have this online it's time to clean up your page.

7. Inappropriate posts, anything that is not going to help you with your job application should not be on the internet.

8. Avoid posts that tend to berate people or yourself, it is not going to help.

9. Excessive posting of your obsessions, there is nothing wrong with posting your favorite sport for example, but if the only thing that your future employers see is people playing basketball it may not help you land a job.

10. Pranks of any kind, jokes are okay, but if you like posting pranks on your page it would be better if refrain from doing so.

11. Bad comments about anything will not benefit your job application, stop writing them.

12. Complaints whether valid or not is not a good thing to see on your social media page.

13. Distasteful words about your past employers is never a good thing, be mindful of what post, if you've already posted in the past about your recent employer it's best to hide or delete it.

Yes, it is our account and yes it is our right to post what we want. But when it comes to the possibility of our employment, of course, we do not want an opportunity to fly simply because of our careless post.

SEAMAN WHO POSTED IN FACEBOOK OVER TAXI PLANTING BULLET ORDERED ARREST?

This report via INQUIRER NEWS
"THE LAND Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has cited for contempt Julius Neil Habana, a seaman who posted on social media that a taxi driver had planted a bullet in his friend’s bag, for failing to appear before the agency to substantiate his allegations.
“It appearing that Habana refused to appear before this court despite efforts by the board, let contempt order be issued until he appears and makes himself available for investigation,” LTFRB Chair Winston Ginez said during Tuesday’s hearing.
“In the meantime, this case shall be archived until the arrest of Habana is made possible by law enforcement officers,” Ginez added."

v
Habana apparently told the process server that he was already in Iloilo province and would like the hearing to be held there, LTFRB board member Ariel Inton mentioned during the hearing.
“Because of his conduct, I would recommend the board to cite him [for] contempt,” Inton said.
Ricky Milagrosa, the taxi driver implicated in the alleged “tanim-bala” extortion scheme, said he would file a case against Habana since the accusation had affected his work and led to his child being bullied at school.
A nationwide taxi organization has come forward to assist in the filing of the case.
“Taxi drivers already have a bad image and we want to change that. We came here to observe the hearing. If the driver committed wrongdoing, we would [seek] the revocation of his license. But it seemed the allegation was fabricated and only created panic among passengers,” said Fermin October, national president of Dumper (Drivers Unite for Mass Progress and Equal Rights).
In a post on Facebook, Habana said that his fellow seaman boarded Milagrosa’s taxi from Sampaloc, Manila to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Oct. 29.
Habana said his friend informed him through text that he saw the driver put something in his bag. He added that he advised his friend to go instead to his boarding house in Malate, Manila where he claimed they found a bullet in the bag.

Facebook Option For Slow Internet And Low Data Charge

Do you still remember telegram, and the ways we communicate 20 years ago? Isn't it amazing how much technology has change our society right now? Communication becomes easier as we stay in touch with friends, relatives and families specially those who live far from us. We get to see and post pictures in Facebook easily.
DOWNLOAD HERE

Although living in this era still has some challenges site for example being able to connect in the internet that is fast and reliable. And in many countries, internet is also not that affordable.

But the new Facebook Lite has definitely addressed this issue.
Facebook Lite is an android application that can be downloaded easily, it is only 1 MB. It is fast to download and fast to install.  DOWNLOAD IT HERE
FBLite_Hero
It is also quick to load and very efficient with data usage. The usual Facebook application most of us have, usually takes around 400MB of data but with the Lite version it takes 3MB to 5MB of data usage only.  It uses low resolution photos as you scroll through your feed therefore minimizing the data usage. If you are using 2G network internet connection is poor, or slow, you can still have a good and reliable experience with this app because of its low data usage which makes it quick to load pictures that are on your feed.

With its data usage, this app is very compatible for mobile devices that have low RAM too.
The downside, the profile picture of your friends doesn't really show. So if someone in your friends list is using pseudo name, or any ambiguous name that is not the real one, be familiar with it, before you start using Facebook lite.

But overall,  the Facebook Lite is still a good option if I'm paying for data usage, and if the internet connection is slow.

An American and Filipino Facing Charges After Posting Derogatory Remarks On Facebook

An American and Filipino were arrested on two separate cases after posting derogatory remarks on Facebook and is now facing charges based on the law in the country where they are working.

The American, Ryan Pate who is working as helicopter mechanic for a global aerospace logistics based in Abu Dhabi said he expressed his anger on Facebook after he received news that his pay will be suspended due to his medical condition after he requested to extend his holiday so he could receive treatment for his back injury. He said, " I called them backstabbers" because of what he perceived as lack of sympathy from his company.

When he returned to Abu Dhabi last February 16, he was arrested for slander against his company and UAE. He was bailed out last February 24.

The Emirate laws passed on 2012  makes it an offence to use the net to mock or deride organizations and individuals.

Although he expressed his apology, "I said some pretty derogatory things that I do regret saying...I just want to apologize to everybody I dragged into this,” Mr. Pate said in an interview. “It is embarrassing, and I never meant for this to happen. I let my emotions get the better of me.”
But he is still facing  fine of up to $10,000 and  imprisonment  of up to 5 years and deportation if convicted.

Back in Singapore, a Filipino nurse, Ed Mundsel Bello Ello,  has also been charged with two counts of sedition and three counts for giving false information to the police for their investigation.

He posted offensive remarks on Facebook as follows:

He is facing sedition because of promoting feelings of hostility between Singaporeans and Filipinos in Singapore, and additional charge for lying to the police when he was questioned about this by claiming that his Facebook account has been hacked.

If convicted he is facing fine of up to $5,000 and imprisonment of up to 3 years on each charge of sedition. And for lying to the police officials, jail of up to 1 year and/or fine of $5,000 for each count.
