1,000 Job Awaits Filipinos in Israel Before Year Ends

Here's good news to Filipinos who want to work abroad. The tourism sector of Israel will be needing 1,000 Filipino workers. Israel's ambassador to the Philippines Rafael Harpaz said that this will be a government-to-government agreement between the Philippines and Israel.

Harpaz is hopeful that they can start the process by November and by the end of the year Filipinos can start working in the tourism industry of the country. It is stated that these work opportunities will done through the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) as Israel seeks to avoid middle companies in the deployment process.

Harpaz explained that the contract of Filipino workers for the said jobs will last around five years. He added that warm hospitality and best services of the Filipinos are the reason why Israel wants Filipino workers in their country. He added that Filipinos are friendly and they have a wonderful experience with Filipino caregivers working in Israel.

Harpaz added that he hopes to see the first batch of Filipino migrant workers in Israel by Christmas.

For the meantime, Israel is hiring more caregivers base on the job orders approved by the POEA on its website! So if you are interested in a tourism job in Israel, bear in mind that the said job offer is due to open in November!

OFW Received P2 Million Reward From his Employer

"What Goes Around Comes Around" We often hear this saying when we talk about the goodness of a person being paid unexpectedly. This is a story of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) named Melencio Salvador that is being featured in an episode of Tadhana, a tv show of GMA. Base on the short clip from YouTube, Melencio is a father of four who forced to work as a caregiver in the Bahamas after his wife died to support his children. In the Philippines, his children are being maltreated by their aunt who acts as their guardian.

In the Bahamas, Melencio also known as Miong worked as a caregiver of an old and sickly man. Due to his hard work, effort and giving tender loving care, the old man included Miong in his last will and testament.

But life in the Bahamas comes never easy for Miong. There was a time he was being accused of being a theft. To support his kids, he endures also long years of homesickness and being far away from his children.

When the old man died, Miong receives reward amounting to $50,000 or equivalent to P2.5 million pesos. According to the son of the old man, Miong deserves the reward because of the love and care he showed to his father.

Miong comes home in the Philippines and settles for good where he bought a house and a jeepney as now the source of their income.

The story of Miong is inspiring especially for OFWs. With or without reward from our employees we should work hard and do good whatever it takes every time. Our reward will come sooner or later.

OFW Shot Dead By A Drunk Policeman In La Union Over Parking Dispute

An OFW was shot and killed by drunk policeman in Tavora East Village, Pugo La Union. Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado of the La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) identified the suspect as Police Officer 1 Francis Michael Laranang, 35, assigned at the town police office’s general services section. Report says that the shooting incident arised from a simple parking dispute. The OFW just parked his vehicle infront of the policeman's house, which he eventually transferred to another location. PUGO, La Union: Parking in front of a policeman’s house proved fatal for an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) after the officer, reportedly drunk at that time, killed him on Sunday in Tavora East Village here. Chief Insp. Silverio Ordinado, La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) information officer, identified the suspect as Police Officer 1 Francis Michael Laranang, assigned at the town police office’s general services section. The victim, Samson Eloja, 33, of Ambalite Village was declared dead-on-arrival from several gunshot wounds by doctors at the La Union Medical Center in Agoo town. Ordinado, in a radio interview, said Laranang was previously assigned at the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office and was transferred to LUPPO only last August 29. Sponsored Links He added that Laranang was allegedly involved in a shooting incident in 2013 but that was amicably settled for a P300,000 pay-off. Eloja was an OFW in Saudi Arabia and was set to go to Australia as a caregiver. His mother, Tessie, said her son went to Tavora East to see a friend who is Laranang’s neighbor. Investigation showed that the victim on Saturday went to Tavora East on board his Ford Escape which he parked in front of the suspect’s house. Laranang, who was drunk, got irritated and confronted Eloja who immediately transferred his car to a basketball court nearby to appease the policeman. Apparently not satisfied, Laranang went after Eloja and shot him several times with his 9mm service firearm.Laranang, 35, is now in the custody of the Pugo Municipal Police Station pending the filing of administrative and murder charges against him. Ordinado added the suspect will undergo the regular process of the investigation as relatives of Eloja demanding that justice be served. Fixers Victimizing Applicants Under Direct Hire Scheme to be Investigated by POEA

"Rose", real name withheld, has been going back and forth from Tarlac to the POEA office for the application of her OEC. Rose has been hired as a caregiver in canada through direct hiring with the help of her sibling and she needs to get an OEC in order for her to work outside the country. Due to the delay, Rose is worried about losing the job because of the length of time she already spent just to have her OEC application approved. She then went straight to DOLE to beg for her OEC approval. She said she badly need the job and appealed to Sec. Bello for compassion. According to POEA, since Rose is a direct hire, they cannot give her an OEC as the law requires. Direct hires are not entitled for issuance of OEC. POEA Deputy Administrator Jocelyn Sanchez said, POEA Revised rules and regulations strictly prohibits direct Hiring to OFWS. A caregiver who is hired by a relative can apply for OEC if he/she can provide a certificate provided by the labor officer of the host country. You should fall in the mentioned category otherwise you cannot have your OEC approved. POEA issues the OEC, However in order that OFWs can use it, it has to be signed by DOLE. According to DOLE, there is a problem with piles of OEC application for direct hires at the moment. There are also many cases that the OFWs are being victimized by illegal recruiters. Dole Secretary Silvestre Bello III has ordered an investigation in POEA to be followed by a revamp. The POEA formed a fact finding investigation team that will determine whether the alleged fixers who victimize the so-called direct hires has a contact within the POEA. POEA advises the caregivers to try applying in any POEA accredited agencies that hire OFWs bound to Israel and Japan as an alternative. They can also apply for Taiwan for factory worker jobs. ©2017 THOUGHTSKOTO www.jbsolis.com SEARCH JBSOLIS
