The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced that Filipinos will be granted visa-free access to Taiwan starting on June 1, 2017.
The visa exemption for Filipinos has a duration of up to 30 days, which will be implemented on a trial basis for a period of one year, from June 1, 2017 to July 31, 2018, the ministry said.
The government also extended the 30-day visa exemption for Thai and Brunei nationals to one year.
Since Taiwan offered visa-free entry to the neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, they have seen significant growth in the number of visitors coming to their country.
In January, according to the government data, the number of South and Southeast Asian visitors in Taiwan reached 68,000, marking an increase of 42.8 % -- the biggest growth in the period of four years.
Taiwan can be a good tourist destination for Filipinos. It will only take approximately two hours travel to go there.
