AFP Personnel To Get MRT Free Ride Starting April 25; Workers On Labor Day

All active personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will be entitled to free rides at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) starting April 25.

Active military personnel may avail of the MRT ride for free upon showing their AFP identification cards which will serve as their access pass, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr). The access pass will be valid for a year.

The DOTr and AFP will sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Wednesday at the MRT-3 depot in Quezon City to formalize the partnership.

The MOA will be signed by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, DOTr Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan, MRT-3 General Manager Rodolfo Garcia and Civil Relations Service AFP Commander Brig. Gen. Bienvenido Datuin Jr.

This will be noted by Batan and AFP Chief of Staff Carlito Galvez Jr. and approved by Tugade and Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.

All workers from private and government company one offices only needed to show their company ID to enjoy the free ride on May 1 from 7:00AM to 9:00AM and 5:00PM to 7:00PM. OFW IDs To Be Financed By OWWA

big budget chunk amounting to P50 million has been allocated by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) for the printing of the OFW ID card. In an interview, Silvestre Bello III, Labor and Employment Secretary and chairman of the OWWA Board of Trustees, disclosed they made the decision through the issuance of a board resolution last week after considering other sources of funding for the project. Sponsored Links Bello noted there were some companies, which volunteered to pay for the printing of the ID. “But we decided for OWWA to shoulder the printing…we are wary that some (companies) might pay for it (ID) but might ask something in return,” Bello said. Aside from private companies, DOLE earlier said they are also looking at private recruiters and foreign employers to pay for the OFW ID. DOLE later scrapped the proposal due to opposition from the recruitment industry. Bello stressed the OFW ID will remain free for its intended beneficiaries except if they would want it delivered to their homes. “If they would want it delivered, they would have to pay for the delivery cost. Otherwise they could claim in OWWA,” Bello said. DOLE earlier said it is targeting to start the printing and distribution of the OFW ID this week in time for the return of OFWs for the Christmas holidays. However, DOLE was unable to meet its tentative deadline for the release of the OFW ID, which was supposed to be on Wednesday, due to the delay in the release of its guidelines. Labor undersecretary Bernard Olalia earlier said they are still waiting for the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to sign the necessary memorandum of agreement (MOA) before they could issue the guidelines. The guidelines will contain the issuance and application process for the OFW ID. The OFW ID will allow OFWs to use the integrated DOLE System or iDOLE systems to help ease their deployment processing. Source: Manila Bulletin Advertisement Read More: ©2017 THOUGHTSKOTO

A big budget chunk amounting to P50 million has been allocated by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) for the printing of the OFW ID card. Mamondiong to Fake TESDA Scholars: "Your Days Are Numbered."

The Director General of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) warned that he will put an end to the agency's fake scholars. According to him, this practice was rampant during the past administration and he is now making a serious campaign against it. Mamondiong also warned Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) across the country that they would be held responsible if proven involved in facilitating fake scholarships. A “technical audit teams” has been created to check the equipment and facilities of TVIs .On the other hand"Barangay Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan (BKKK)" scouts every barangay for scholars. According to Mamondiong, his administration would not tolerate such illegal practice as it would be a cause of corruption. Due to fake scholars, a big chunk of TESDA funds go to waste. Commission on Audit (COA) reports showed that in the previous administration, fake scholars are widespread. There were no training sessions held among TVIs. Mamondiong also said that what surprising was that some TVIs could get a voucher or scholarship slot inside the TESDA even without the proper training being held. These cohorts who serve as "operators" also get a chunk of money through the fraudulent transactions with TVIs and training institutions. Mamondiong ordered the provincial and regional TESDA offices off to facilitate the arrest of the suspects linked to the fake scholars. Meanwhile, OFWs can also study their desired skills through the online courses offered by TESDA. Being abroad should not hinder you to learn new skills. OFWs can also learn at their own pace. TESDA has scheduled to conduct an assessment in different countries abroad. TESDA also said that the online courses are also open for non-OFWS. To get your certificate, you may need to go to the accredited assessment centers after the online course.
