This is a good news to Filipinos who are looking for jobs! Japanese employers from automotive firms will hire around 50,000 Filipino graduates of engineering, management, and marketing. According to JobStreet.com Philippine country manager Philip Gioca, there are 40 automotive companies partnered with JobStreet.com to launch a job fair at the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) Quezon City Campus on September 28.

According to Gioca, these automotive companies seek to bolster their production to 1 million vehicles in the next 10 years from 400,000 units last year. It said that the good news comes as the country continues to position itself as an automotive manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia.

In spite of this, these Japanese firms promise a competitive salary to Filipinos.
According to Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, higher car taxes under the government’s Tax Reform for Inclusion and Acceleration (TRAIN) program have not discouraged automotive companies from investing in the Philippines.
Few of this is the Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation that commits to invest an additional P3.26 billion to produce and source more body shells and large plastics in its factories and suppliers in the country. Aside from Toyota, Honda Philippines started selling big bikes in the country due to the growing demand for more upscale motorcycles.
Since 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte been marketing the Philippines as the prime destination for automotive factories in a bid to boost the manufacturing sector of the country.
