To curb crimes and to accelerate the resolution of crimes, the Philippine government is planning to issued national ID to all 105 million Filipinos.
The proposal is very much possible within the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Aside from crime resolution, the national ID system will help ease the delivery of social services to all Filipinos.

One more thing about the National ID, it will replace all government-issued identification cards, except the passport and drivers' license.
It will contain biometric data and will be issued at birth and renewable when the citizen turns 18.
According to Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno, the government is intended to give all Filipinos a national ID that will function as a social welfare card.

"We intend to give all Filipinos a national id that will also function as a social welfare card," Diokno told a tax forum.
The National ID will be having EMV or chip-based technology that will determine who can avail discounts on transportation, medicine, and health care services.
It will first prioritize the senior citizens and the poorest 5 million households according to Diokno.
A House of Representatives committee last month approved a bill that sought to unify government-issued identified cards into a single national ID.
Currently, the government is drafting for the Executive Order (EO) of the National ID system.
Diokno said the application and registration will start the next year 2018 and all Filipinos will be given an ID not later than 2020.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) will allocate around P2 billion for National ID funding and the National ID may be free of charge.
