Guard Returns Bag with P500K to Owner - Refuses Reward

A mall security guard is receiving praises after he made efforts find the owner of a clutch bag containing huge amounts of cash. This happened in a mall in Makati City. According to Ronald Llaneta, who hails from Atimonan, Quezon Province, he was doing his regular rounds in the mall when he saw a bag left in a pushcart. It happened past 7PM last Thursday, while he was on duty. He ventured into the supermarket section and that's where he saw the bag unattended. He immediately brought the bag to the security office. When they opened it, they found a stack of money estimated to be P500,000. Ronald and his colleagues immediately notified the mall management about the lost and found bag in a bid to find its owner as fast as possible. The owner was finally notified after an hour. He thanked Llaneta profusely offering a reward to the guard. Llaneta gracefully declined, saying it was his job to secure people and property inside the mall where he works. The mall management expressed their admiration for Ronald. Even his colleagues were impressed by his honesty. The security agency which supplied Ronald to the mall expressed their pride in their employee.

A Brighter Future and Renewed Hope

This is my latest post at the Kablogs Journal.

Check out the whole issue about Hope.

The Kablogs Journal

----------------------------------------

Naging isang malaking story ang 2010 para sa akin at maging sa maraming Filipino sa kahit saan mang panig ng mundo. Ang daming nangyari -- some were good; others, too bad.

Downside: The broken promises of those who won in the 2010 s and the many blunders committed by some of the newly-elected officials disappointed us all. The hostage crisis in Manila that turned into a nightmare was a crucible to all Filipinos worldwide. The cutting of OFW and education budget, and the fatalities of OFW's in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and many others, were additional wounds to a bigger affliction.

Upside: PEBA soared to a higher ground, and along with the expansion, came sponsors to somehow cover up the expenses, but it is not yet enough. We have to spend a few thousands of our money, and devote most of our time just to make it happen. It happened. Not yet perfect, with so many things to improve, but somehow, good enough, all for the glory of OFW and Filipino bloggers.

And twenty ten finally ended. It will always be remembered.

In comes 2011 promising us a brighter future and a renewed hope that things will be better.

I hope it will be a year of moving forward. I hope it will be a year of quiet reflections on what really matters in life. We have been so busy chasing destiny when we should be slowing down and focussing our time and efforts in building a better family. BEcause for me, families are forever.

In 2011, let's all invest in three things: health, education and a piece of land -- some of the things in life that we importantly need.

A good and healthy life to keep us going. What good is acquisition of so much wealth if all the things we need is just a strong, energetic and healthy body?

May we also invest in education, of our goods or personal advancement? Competition is stiff. It eats people. May we further our knowledge, and gain more wisdom because these are the only things we will bring to our grave: the knowledge we learned and the wisdom we gained.

And lastly, may we materially possess a piece of land, or build a good house where we can live as a family. Sort of an investment. It will be for our posterity.

Happy New Year everyone, and God bless us all!

Words That Are Better Than Gold

My almost two year old daughter and I are playing Starfall online, an educational website for kids when we stumble over this page. Four words that says the possession of them all are better than gold.

Hope.

Joy.

Kind.

Peace.

My wife adds, health but I pointed out, you can't have peace if you don't have good health. I think these are the very things, or gifts our world wanted.

Hope amidst the uncertainties of the future, when there are so much pessimism and prophets and prophetess of doom and gloom. That the sun will not shine again clearer and lighter.

Joy, the very reason we all wanted in life and even in the life beyond. Sometimes the simplest things are those that gives us real and lasting happiness, or joy. It is when we do good, and when we truly share our best without expecting anything.

Kind - thoughts, words and deeds, that is. I love a song that I always sing when I am alone, "Have I done any good in the world today? Have I help anyone in need? Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad. If not, I have failed indeed. Has anyone's burden been lighter today, because I was willing to share..."

Peace. Anyone in this world wanted it. Nations and countries, kingdoms and tribes, clans, families, individual wants a piece of peace. Peace they say cannot be achieved without change.

"May the people on this planet be changed.
Changed from hatred to love,
Changed from greed to giving,
Changed from selfishness to selflessness,
Changed from apathy to action,
Changed from jealousy to joy over someone's accomplishments,
Changed from intolerance to acceptance,
Changed from being destructive to being constructive,
Changed from fighting to peace,
Changed from killing to protecting life,
Changed from censorship to freedom,
Changed from ignorance to education,
Changed from fearing our differences to rejoicing our variety."

For me, another song, "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me." You've heard this song, don't you? So I guess, we better start singing now, haha.

So there you go, the four words that says to be better than gold. Hope, Joy, Kind, and Peace. May we have all these things as we continue our journey in this life.

Kapit Kamay, Iwagayway!

Thank you Yanah Biiba and The Pope for the UBER (Over) Amazing BLOG award.

We know not all that lies ahead of us.

We live in a world of uncertainty.

We live and serve a foreign land all for those we love.

For some, there will be great accomplishment.

For others, sadness, misery and disappointment.

For some, much of rejoicing and gladness, good health, and gracious living.

For others, perhaps sickness and a measure of sorrow.

We do not know.

But one thing we do know.

Like the Polar Star in the heavens, regardless of what the future holds,

there stands Someone far powerful than us all and yet we know very well.

Kilala niyo na Siya. He is there.

Sa kahit anong season at yugto ng buhay, sa hirap at ginhawa, sa tawanan at pighati, we look to Him with love and trust and with tremendous hope that the Heaven will smile with favor to us all.

Late this month, the nomination for the TOP 10 PINOY EXPATS and TOP 10 PINOY OFW BLOGS for the year 2009 will be open. Criteria and rules are being drafted and we are still in need of volunteers. If you want to volunteer-sponsor, email me at top10pinoyexpatsblogs@gmail.com

The theme will be something with hope. Let us all raise the banner of hope everywhere through our blogs especially these times where we live in times of wars, crisis and despairing news.

Sana walang ilong na dudugo kasi nageenglish na naman kami. hehehe

Live Each Day Without Regret

I must admit, since the Hajj holiday, until New Year, I was terribly busy. I hope I won't be required to write a litany of things that I been doing, but being a father of an 8 months old vibrant, and hyperactive baby is quite a task. After I got some fever and flu for almost a week, Mrs. Thoughtskoto's immune system finally gave in, and got sick also. Right now she is having cough, and Babytots had just recovered from cold.

The year end is very demanding with inventories, annual reports, summaries and histories in my work. Plus, being an activity committee chairman of a group here in Saudi Arabia, the Christmas and New Year celebration nag-iinit po ang celpon ko, tawag dito, tawag doon. (My cellphone is hot, for frequent call here and call there)
Not to mention the gastos dito, gastos doon (expenses here and there) hehe

Thank you to all those people who helped me in Organizing the first Pinoy Expats Blog Awards. That too kept me busy in data finalizing the winners and crunching the data's from the judges. I want to make it transparent and honest. The contest over-all is very successful, with tremendous exposures in the blogosphere. Thank you to all the sponsors, the judges, the nominees who are winners for me.

Just one note this New Year of 2009. In my own vision, I think it will be better for us, for my family. I don't know why but I can feel it. I am an optimist. I am not the bearer of doom and gloom, although I recognize the turmoils and the crumbles the world is experiencing right now.

I have never lose faith in our capacity to rise up victorious from whatever trials and challenges we are up to, if we have faith in Him. If we believe in our self, and in our abilities and talents.

My New Year's goal is to live each day without regret. Not everyday will be delightful and joyful. But we have to live each day to the fullest, not minding those bitterness of the past or the blinding challenges of the future. We have to live each day with courage, with hope, with faith, and with love.

We have to live each day without regret knowing we have done our best in the battle of the day. When we do that, we will sleep with a smile in our face, and peace in our minds. Tomorrow will be another day.

Happy New Year to all and congratulations to all the winners of the Top 10 Pinoy Expats Blog Awards!
