On Monday, February 3, DOH-EB Director Chito Avelino disclosed that eight of the 80 patients under investigation (PUIs) had contacted the couple who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (nCoV).

“Doon sa PUIs na reported today, may nakita tayo sa contact tracing, may nagkaroon ng symptoms ng ubo at sipon. At eto (walo) ay nakasama sa bilang natin ngayon,” Avelino said.

In a press conference on Sunday, February 2, health officials confirmed the first nCoV death in the Philippines: a 44-year-old male who died on Saturday, February 1.  While the patient was stable and showed signs of improvement in his last few days, his condition deteriorated within his last 24 hours resulting to his demise.

It was disclosed that the country recorded two confirmed cases in the Philippines: a 38-year-old Chinese female and her companion, a 44-year-old Chinese male. Both patients are from Wuhan, China and arrived in the Philippines via Hong Kong last January 21. They were both admitted for isolation and supportive treatment at the San Lazaro Hospital in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The DOH-EB is currently conducting contact tracing of passengers aboard the flights of the two positive cases. It has secured the manifestos of the flights and is in close coordination with the concerned airlines. Contact tracing activities are ongoing in Cebu and Dumaguete, and in other places where the patients stayed and traveled to.

“The Philippine Government has already implemented a temporary travel ban for travelers coming from China, Macao, and Hong Kong. DOH is monitoring every development on the 2019-nCoV very closely and is taking proactive measures to contain the spread of this virus in our country. This health event is fast-evolving and fluid. We are continuously recalibrating our plans and efforts as the situation develops,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said.

“We are providing the public with constant updates and advisories as frequently as possible, so all I ask from the public now is to heed the advisories from official DOH channels and to refrain from sharing unverified and unvalidated information. I assure the public that we will keep you abreast of any information that we have,” he added.

Meanwhile, in China, a woman with coronavirus gave birth to a healthy baby girl, giving hope to thousands of people amid the nCoV scare.

In an interview with Dobol B sa News TV, Senator Bong Go announced the president's order.

"Sa ngayon ay mag-i-implement na ng temporary travel ban on travelers coming from any part of China and its special administrative regions on top of the existing temporary travel ban imposed on those coming from Hubei province and other affected areas. Taking into consideration the concerns raised by key government officials and health experts, the President made a decision and has agreed to adopt this recommendation and implement it immediately as additional precautionary measure to protect the Filipinos," he said.

"Magkakaroon tayo ng temporary ban banning the entry of any person except Filipino citizens and holders of permanent resident visa issued by the Philippine government directly coming from China and its special administrative regions. Kung ibang bansa naman ang pinanggalingan mo pero nanggaling ka sa China within 14 days before arrival at hindi ka Pilipino o Philippine resident, hindi ka makakapasok sa Pilipinas," he further explained.

Did Duterte Really Call On The US Against China? Watch The Video

In a news released by different media outfits today, the netizens are skeptical about the sudden "turn" of President Rodrigo Duterte's stance towards going into war with gigantic China.
According to the news, the president is now "invoking a defense  fact with America" to help the Philippines go to battle with China.

they just lie there and they die there are you warm, are you real, mona lisa?

The said video which the news outfits has taken quote about the president allegedly asking the help of America is taken from the program of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy published on Youtube on July 16, 2019.
“I’m calling now America. I’m invoking the RP-US pact. I would like America to gather all their Seventh Fleet in front of China. I’m asking them now. And I will join them,” Duterte said in the part of the video.
However, the statement appeared to be maliciously misquoted. If you would watch the video from 55:00, the president is talking about how the relationship with the US becomes eventually sour and the the relationship with China was restored.
All along, the president relates why he would not want to go to war with China because he do not want the nation to be ruthlessly pulverized.

In the latter part of the speech, we would hear the president talk about the possible aftermath in a manner with some jest said, "maybe that will be the end of Palawan, Palawan will be devastated, maybe occupied or if there will be nuclear bombs, then we will dry up. So, nothing will grow here. So nothing will grow here, we can just wait, just like a big hole coming our way, to suck us to eternity and then we can sing the 'Mona Lisa'.
After this he sang a part from the famous song that goes;
"they just lie there and they die there are you warm, are you real, mona lisa?"

DA Wants Probe Regarding The Confiscated Processed Meat Recovery Involving Tulfo

An OFW sought the help of Mr. Raffy Tulfo to recover the processed meat products she brought from Hong Kong which were confiscated by the Bureau of Customs personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The confiscation is due to the strict implementation of the memorandum from the Department of Agriculture to prevent meat products of any sort from entering the country. The memorandum was made to prevent the entry of the dreaded African Swine Flu (ASF) to avoid the spread of the said disease to the Philippines.

China Hails Pinoy Engineer Whose Body Organs Were Donated to Benefit Six Chinese

There's a Filipino engineer based in China who instructed his family members that he wants his body organs donated in the event of an unexpected death.

Little did he know he would become the first foreigner to donate body organs in Taizhou City, East China's Jiangsu Province.

It's not everyday that we hear of fellow Filipinos who have willingly expressed to have their body parts donated upon their demise. Organ donation is not yet common for Filipinos.

But there is one Filipino engineer based in China who instructed his family members that he wants his body organs donated in the event of an unexpected death.

Abear Wilbert, an overseas worker from the Philippines, suffered from cerebral hemorrhage after he lapsed into a deep coma on an expressway on July 6. His wife Mrs. Wang immediately called the local police for help and he was rushed to the Taizhou City People’s Hospital. Despite surgeries to remove blood and lumps in his skull, he was declared brain dead on July 17 --- much to the grief of his family. It was a battle fought and lost. Little did he know he would become the first foreigner to donate body organs in Taizhou City, East China's Jiangsu Province. It was so admirable that doctors paid tribute to him as per a released video by a local Chinese media. It was his wish beforehand to donate his body organs to whoever needs those and his family have acquisced to this. His Chinese wife disclosed that they met in Guangzhou and were blessed with two daughters. They decided to settle in Wuxi where Wilbert worked as a Senior Test Engineer in the city. He belonged to the Wuxi Catholic Community and was a guitarist in church, according to CRI Filipino Service. It was Wang's decision to donate her husband's kidneys, pair of corneas, liver as well as his heart -- which will benefit six Chinese patients, as per reports. It was an act praised by the Red Cross as it showed a humanitarian concern and dedication regardless of race or nationality. Meanwhile, the 80-year-old mother of Wilbert reportedly said she's sad to lose her son; however, she's also pleased that her beloved son could help others until the end of his life. We could only bow our heads in awe of this man who prefers to give away his healthy organs so that others in need of those would benefit; a life extension, perhaps. His story will leave us thinking; could we gather the courage to become organ donors ourselves?

Duterte Declared Permanent Deployment Ban To Kuwait: Calls Out To OFWs To Come Home

President Rodrigo Duterte said that the deployment ban of overseas Filipino workers to Kuwait, especially domestic helpers, would be permanent.

"There will be no more recruitment... especially domestic helpers," said Duterte.

The president also urged every Filipino skilled workers in Kuwait to come home, as jobs would be available for them in the country.

China is considered among the possible future deployment destinations, workers could look forward to, where some 100,000 English teachers would be needed in the next five years.

There would also be a need for caregivers in countries with aging populations, with Duterte pointing to Japan as one of these possible destination countries.

Furthermore, the president said that the Philippines would need workers because of the bullish economy, and because of the government's "Build, Build, Build" infrastructure program.

As he made an appeal to Kuwait OFWs' sense of patriotism, the President said, "please come home."
Nevertheless, Duterte conceded that things would initially be difficult for returning workers, but matters would "straighten out" eventually.

According to the Foreign Affairs Department, there were 260,000 Filipinos working in Kuwait, with more than 65 percent of the domestic helpers.

However, The president expressed much gratitude to Kuwait for the help it provided to OFWs. He also reiterated that he had no ill will towards the Kuwaiti government, neither with its people. Nonetheless, he hoped that the Filipino workers who chose to remain in Kuwait would be treated humanely.
Meanwhile, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that the president's statement was misquoted and reports are sometimes inaccurate. The President reportedly said that the ban is now permanent -- that is not the case, he said. The President had said from the start that the deployment ban will stay for as long as there is no MOU and there is no justice.
Secretary Bello also said that he will still clarify the issue with the president.

According to the latest Legislative Council papers submitted by the Security Bureau, the new smart ID card is pink, light blue and light green in colour, with a photo of the holder on the left and a small stereo laser image of the portrait on the right. It has a new transparent window bearing the card number in the top right-hand corner. An image of the Hong Kong skyline will appear at the back of the card under UV light. Sponsored Links The new card design bears a hologram with wave and 3D effects and a multiple-pattern background. Other security features intended to make the card hard to fake include rainbow printing, micro-printed text and ink with optically variable properties. The next-generation smart ID card system is estimated to have cost HK$54.6 million (US$7 million) this financial year, of which 40% went towards system development and another 40% on building card replacement centers. Hongkongers generally welcome the changes, both for aesthetic and security purposes. Among the feedbacks received were about the card being "brighter and clearer" compared to the previous designs. Some locals also believe that the card has a better protection now against counterfeiters. Source: SCMP Advertisement Read More: ©2017 THOUGHTSKOTO
