OFWs in SAUDI, Embassy Reminds You To Renew Your Passport 9 Months Before Expiration. Many countries, especially in the Middle East, require your passport to be valid for 6 months before your departure date. Example, if you are travelling back to the Philippines in December 2017, your passport should be valid at least April 2018. DFA: Remove Passport Appointment System And Release Passport In Few Days

The new Department of Foreign Affairs Chief, Allan Cayetano made a speech after the flag raising ceremony at DFA. He mentioned during his speech that President Rodrigo Duterte asked to make the welfare, protection and convenience of OFWs a priority. One of the issues that has to be addressed in relation to this is the passport application system. During his speech, he mentioned that he spoke with Asec. Frank to work with his transition team and work with people responsible with the passporting system. He said, he is expecting from the day he gets back from Russia that the memo will be on his desk determining what could be done to speed up the process of passport application and remove appointment system. "I expect, when I come back from Russia, a memo will be on my desk that will contain, "what", "how", and "when"... As in what can we do to speed up the process and remove the appointment system. Our goal is that, when we walk-in you will be able to apply for passport and in a few days get the passport." - DFA Chief Cayetano He added, the goal is to be able to walk-in and apply for passport, then get the passport in few days, or later on apply for passport in the post office just like in the United States. To accomplish this goal, according to him, we might be needing more machine, mobile passport program or employees. He said, if funds are not yet available and if additional employees will be needed, they could use his salary so that it could be implemented to started right away. DFA: 10 Years Validity Passport Will Cost Twice


The bill proposing 10 year validity of passport has already been approved in the Senate and now awaiting approval or signature from the President. However, according to DFA, once implemented, the cost of the passport will also increase. Currently, applicants in the Philippines have to pay P 950 for passports with 5 year validity. This will then be increased to P 1,900 to P 2,000 for 10 year validity passport. The reason for the increase in passport fee, materials will be changed and has to be durable enough to last for 10 years. The pages will also be increased. "Definitely, the materials will change. The materials are, of course, a bit more expensive because we want the booklet to be durable enough to last 10 years," said Ricarte Abejuela, DFA Office of Consular Affairs Passport Director. "We're also going to increase the number of pages so definitely there are corresponding increases in cost as well," he added. Those who are 18 years old and below cannot also avail the passport with 10 year validity. Requirements and Process for Application of Lost or Damaged Passport



REQUIREMENTS FOR REPLACEMENT OF LOST PASSPORT

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Personal appearance

2. Confirmed appointment for applicants with expired passports and issued travel documents (lost-valid passport applicant may proceed directly to the Consular Records Division at DFA-Aseana without an appointment)

4. Requirements for the first-time passport applicants are still prescribed.

Please take note that there will be a 15-day clearing period prior to the processing of application for replacement of a lost/mutilated valid passport.


Express processing payment is P1200 for 10 working days.

PASSPORT PROCESSING GUIDE AND LIST OF DFA BRANCHES NATIONWIDE

Certainly, you need a passport if you are planning to work abroad or to go for a short vacation outside the Philippines. As the DFA said, do not buy a plane ticket for abroad, unless you already have a passport in your hand.

So here's a quick guide on how to apply for a passport, the requirements, and documents needed, how much and where to apply. Step 1 - Prepare the documents and requirements needed Duly accomplished application form – may be downloaded from the DFA website, www.dfa.gov.ph Birth Certificate (BC) in Security Paper (SECPA) issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) or Certified True Copy (CTC) of BC issued by the Local Civil Registrar (LCR) and duly authenticated by PSA. Step 1 - Prepare the documents and requirements needed
  • Duly accomplished application form – may be downloaded from the DFA website, www.dfa.gov.ph

Step 2 - Online appointment with the DFA

What You Will Need For Online Application Filing and Scheduling?
  • A working computer with internet access. 
  • A Web Browser. (Internet Explorer ver.11 or higher / Mozilla Firefox ver.45 and up recommended) 
  • A valid and working email address to receive system-generated messages with file attachments. 
  • A PDF reader and a working printer to view and print the system-generated the application form on A4-size paper.
Now here's the process;
  1. Log on to https://www.passport.gov.ph/
  2. Click the "Scheduled an appointment 
  3. Read the terms and conditions 
  4. Choose "START INDIVIDUAL APPOINTMENT" OR "START GROUP APPOINTMENT" 
  5. Fill in the required information 
  6. Take note of all the requirements 
  7. Choose your appointment date and time
A reference number will be sent to your email together with a link to print your application form. Do not forget to bring the printed form on the day of your appointment. 

You can also set an appointment by calling DFA’s customer service hotline at (02) 737-1000. Follow the instructions of the customer care representative. Provide all the necessary information. The customer care representative will let you know if you are required to submit any additional documentation.




Step 3 - Online appointment with the DFA
  • Proceed to DFA Office on your appointed time and Date 
  • Do not forget to bring your valid IDs and all required documents 
  • Make atleast two copies of your IDs and documents 
  • Bring printed passport application form 
  • Observe proper dress code. 
  • All applicants (from 0 years old onwards) are required to make a personal appearance. 
  • If you are a minor, you and your parent or guardian must be present at the appointment.



Step 4 - Present your printed application to the Application Counter



Step 5 - Get a number, fall in line (or sit down in the waiting area) and present your documents for verification if it is your turn



Step 6 - Payment. Regular processing costs P950 while express processing costs P1200. 
Step 7 - Encoding Section for image and data capturing. No need to bring passport-size photos.

Step 8 - You can choose whether you want your passport delivered at your residence or you can pick-it up at DFA office.

Step 9 - Go home and wait for your passport to arrive.
