Warning to Facebook Groups That Spreads Sexually Explicit Photos: NBI and Facebook Are Watching You

Women and young ladies in particular are the most vulnerable targets of catcalling in the streets, in public malls, in a local supermarket and even in the neighborhood. They feel embarrassed and humiliated of such acts. What more if they found out that their private photos are being feasted on by pervert eyes in a social media site without their consent? A 12-year-old girl was traumatized when an alleged lewd conversation between her and some guy spreaded on Facebook. The girl insisted that another user broke in to her facebook account without her consent and made it appear that she was the one chatting with him. The girl's mother sought the help of the local police in Bataan and showed them the screenshots of the conversations. The culprits could face serious charges in violation of the anti-cybercrime law, according to the authorities. Another lady has filed a complaint before the National Bureau Of Investigation against a facebook closed group for allegedly exposing her private photos with a description that she is a "walker" (people who offers sexual services at a certain cost). Marie was shocked when she suddenly received numerous messages from unknown people containing lewd language asking to avail of her "services". A concerned friend told Marie that her graduation photo has been uploaded to "Bible Study ni Pastor Hokage" Facebook group with a caption that she is offering her services for P5,000. More victims of these groups containing sexually explicit photos and topics surfaced and filed complaints before the NBI. Most of them are with pictures secretly taken or grabbed on their profile and shared on the group using sexually suggestive captions. NBI warned the people behind such acts that they will be criminally liable under the anti-cybercrime law as well as those who share the same posts. Social media site Facebook also responded against closed groups that are spreading sexually explicit photos that violates the victim's right to privacy. The National Privacy Commission said that the most appropriate case to be filed on these individuals should be violation of the Data Privacy Act. The NBI reminds the public not to post sensitive photos on your social media accounts. To find out if somebody uses your photos or copying your profile, you can try searching about your own profile on google.
