List of Hospitals that Give Free Medicines Under Pres. Duterte's Lingap Program

Remember President Duterte's promise to give free medicine to poor families? It is now implemented nationwide.

Non-other Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Judy Taguiwalo confirmed the good news.

Poor families around the country may now avail themselves of free medicines from six government hospital under Libreng Gamot Para Sa Masa (Lingap) program.

This is a replication of Duterte's program when he was a mayor of Davao City.

Here are the six hospitals that are offering free medicines for the indigents

University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital in Manila

Jose B. Lingad Memorial Hospital in San Fernando City, Pampanga

Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City

Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City

Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City

Davao Regional Hospital (DRH) in Tagum City

The program has been given P1 billion from the President's Social Fund.In line with this, Taguiwalo said, Malacanang will increase the budget for the program by P500 million.

How to avail the free medicine?

If you are indigent who are either confined or receiving in or out-patient treatment from the selected hospitals, you are qualified as beneficiaries.

However, the government gives priority to the following cases:

Families or individuals who are indigent, vulnerable, or disadvantaged

Those in the informal sector and poorly based on the Department of Social Welfare and Development's "Listahanan"

Those who are in crisis situations based on the assessment of social workers

Government employees and contract service workers working in the government

Beneficiaries of soldiers and police who were killed or wounded in the line of duty

You only need to present the following documents:

Valid ID (Patient's representatives should also have a valid ID and an authorization letter signed by the patient applying for the benefit) Doctor's prescription issued within the last 3 months (The prescription should contain the license number and contact details of the attending physician)

Proof of indigencies, such as a barangay certificate or a certification from the medical social service

As of March 22, there are 948 indigent Filipinos who already availed this benefit.

WHO CAN AVAIL FREE MEDICINES FROM THE GOVT AND WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

"Isang Bilyong Pisong Tulong na Gamot mula sa Pondo ng Pangulo" is now available for indigent patients all over the Philippines.

In the official page of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, confirmed the news on Friday, January 6, 2017.

The P1 billion for free medicines came from the P5 billion remitted by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. to President Rodrigo Duterte last month.

Taguiwalo said under their guidelines, DSWD social workers can immediately approve the giving of medicines to indigents if they are worth P5,000 or below.

The government can also pay for medicines that cost as much as P25,000 but this would have to be subject to approval by the field office.

The DSWD chief clarified that no cash will be given to the poor patients but would provide them with guarantee or referral letters. The indigent patient will then present the letters to drug stores so they can be given free medicines.

The free medicines can be availed of every three months.

WHO CAN AVAIL OF THE FREE MEDICINES?

The needy, vulnerable, disadvantaged poor and from the other informal sector. Other indigents base on DSWD assessment.

Government employees including contractuals

Individual in crisis base on the assessment of social workers

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS NEEDED?

Clinical abstract/medical certificate with full name, signature and license number of a physician
Doctor's prescription with a name of a patient
Barangay Certificate of Indigency
Valid IDs

The DSWD will implement, manage, monitor and gives report and evaluation of the program. The program will be implemented with the help of Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) of the agency.

FREE MEDICINE FOR STROKE PATIENTS FROM DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

GOOD NEWS!LIBRE NA ANG GAMOT PARA SA MGA STROKE PATIENTS. The Department of Health announced that the medicine for stroke patients is now available at some selected hospitals nationwide and its free. Alteplase or tissue plasminogen activator,the medication for stroke which usually costs Php80,000 per vial is a trully life-saving drug that is ideally administered within 3 hours upon onset of fatal stroke,Health Secretary Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial explained.The DOH procured the said medicine for only Php30,000 and now became available to everyone waiving the excuse of not being treated because they cannot provide the money needed to have access to the pricey stroke medication. Ubial however reminded doctors must first distinguish the type of stroke the patient has because alteplease will only benefit a patient with ischemic type of stroke as the medicine "breaks down unwanted blood clots." "Alteplase will just worsen the stroke if given to those with the haemorrhagic type since this will just promote more bleeding in the brain," she added.

FREE HYPERTENSION AND DIABETES MAINTENANCE MEDICINE STARTING JANUARY 2016

The Department of Health (DOH) said on Friday that starting January 2016, hypertension and diabetic patients nationwide may avail of free maintenance medicines for their illnesses from the DOH regional rural health units (RHUs).

DOH Secretary Janette L. Garin said essential medicines needed for control of hypertension and diabetes can be received by people suffering from such illnesses upon registering with the DOH Hypertension and Diabetes Club in the RHUs of Regional Offices where they belong. The RHUs in the regional offices of the DOH will furnish the list of the patients that will be joining the club to the Central Office so that a data base can be formed.

To be part of the DOH Hypertension and Diabetes Club, a patient needs to consult the nearest health center or primary health care facility to undergo assessment, screening and management.

Diagnosis will be made by barangays health workers (BHWs) in the RHUs. To ensure that BHWs can help in the monitoring and assessments, they are provided with Blood Pressure Apparatus and Glucometer sets to measure sugar level. Once diagnosed, the patient will be enrolled in the club.

As a benefit, the patients can have access to DOH drugs for hypertension (Losartan, Amlodipine, Metroprolol) and diabetes (Metformin).

The program will be initially available among the poor sectors of the community and seeking preventive check-up in the RHUs.

However, patients seeking consultation in private health facilities who have various maintenance medicines and having a lot of out-of-pocket expenditures may also join the club and avail also of free maintenance medicines.

Poorest patients needing insulin medicine for their diabetic condition will also be given access.

The program is part of the DOH effort in upgrading facilities and services nationwide in line with the goal of bringing the Universal Health Care Program or “Kalusugang Pangkalahatan” Health Agenda of the Aquino Administration to the Filipino people.
