19 Filipinas Doing Part-time Jobs At A Halloween Party In Riyadh Arrested And In Danger Of Being Deported

The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah released a public advisory on avoiding to be getting involved in any activities involving violation of local Saudi laws, customs, morals, and practices following the arrest of 19 overseas Filipino workers (OFW) who were allegedly involved in a Halloween party in Riyadh.

Ads      Sponsored Links     In a social media post by Hammoud Al Fajrawi, an alleged total of 24 people who organized a Halloween party got arrested and will be subjected to strict actions. It includes two Saudi men, a Sudanian man, a Yemeni man, an Egyptian man and alleged 19 Philippine nationality women. They were all arrested for organizing secret Halloween party in a rented private resort at Thumamah in Riyadh and they also used social media for inviting their friends at the party, which is strictly forbidden in the Kingdom. . Many foreigners from different nationalities women and men in Halloween costumes had been caught. They even found out a lot of illegal foreigners from different nationalities also celebrating Halloween party. .  The local police received complaints from the citizens those living in Thumamah after they heard loud music in the neighborhood. The people who participated in the said party say that they had been charged for entering to watch the celebration.  The 19 Filipinas, however, are just doing part-time jobs as servers during the said alegged Halloween party. They are now in a danger of being deported back to their home country for committing such violation. Meanwhile, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato said they have seen the viral social media posts but added that there must be an official report from the Philippine embassy in Riyadh.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III confirmed that there were 17 overseas Filipino workers arrested.
The OFWs arrested were merely attending the party and were not the organizers.
DOLE has already instructed Filipino officials in Riyadh to monitor the situation.
