The heroism of an old man in Bohol delayed the escape of a notorious Abu Sayyaf leader in Bohol and led to the bandit's death.
Lolo Peryong, 70, was clearing a mangrove farm at Barangay Lawis, Calape when the Abu Sayyaf leader Abu Ubayda, with M16 rifle and grenade on his hand, suddenly showed up as he tries to lose the government military personnel who was chasing him. He grabbed his scythe and attacked the ASG leader trying to slash him but he missed, said Calape police chief Sr. Insp. Cresente Gurea.
Bladed weapon struggle between the two resulted to the old Peryong being slashed by his own weapon and hit by the butt of the ASG leader's rifle. The old man was overpowered by the latter and is now being treated at a hospital and in an unstable condition. Abu Ubayda was later killed by the government troops with multiple headshots.
Before it happened Abu Ubayda together with Abu Asis were travelling with a stolen motorcycle when they were spotted on a checkpoint. The two was separated during the chase. Abu Asis was also killed by the SWAT team after a hand-to-hand combat with a resident who noticed that the bandit was unarmed while fleeing from the military forces.

Old Peryong deserves the P1 Million reward for the heroism he showed against the bandits and he badly needed it in his situation right now.
