Japan's Avigan or Favipiravir or Favilavir Medicine, Gamot sa COVID19?

Japan Prime Minister Abe:

“A few dozen cases of Avigan reported improvement in administration symptoms."
“Expanded clinical research and started increasing drug production."
On the other hand, the National Medical Products Administration of China has approved the use of Avigan or Favipiravir or Favilavir, an anti-viral drug, as a treatment for coronavirus. The drug has reportedly shown efficacy with minimal side effects in a clinical trial involving hundreds of patients in China and Japan.

Abe says Japan aims to approve Avigan as coronavirus treatment. The government will also begin trial procedures aimed at winning approval for the anti-flu drug Avigan as a treatment for the coronavirus, Abe said. Avigan was developed by Japanese company Fujifilm Holdings.

The drug has already shown signs of being effective in relieving symptoms after being administered in dozens of cases, Abe said, adding it has attracted interest from many countries. Japan "will proceed with clinical research in cooperation" with other countries and will start increasing production soon.

AVIGAN, to be approved as a formal coronavirus medicine

First coronavirus vaccine in China due for trial late April
