TESDA Emergency Skills Training Program For Returning OFWs Launched

Among the biggest worries of an OFW who have been retrenched, or underwent emergency repatriation is that, where will they get the money to sustain the needs of their family?
Most household service workers endure maltreatment for the sake of earning a slightly bigger salary overseas because that is the only job they know and they don't have other skills  to make them qualified for another job.
TESDA has been changing  these things by providing skills training to upgrade the skills of Filipino workers to make the competitive here and abroad.
TESDA launched an emergency skills training program for returning OFWs with variety of courses to choose from.

Roberto Abad  is an OFW from Africa. The skills training program can help him a lot to start a livelihood in the Philippines. He took up baking course. After the training, he can put up his own bakery business with the skills he acquired from the program.
The Emergency Skills Training Program idea was born when President Rodrigo Duterte came back from the Middle East with a number of repatriated OFWs with him.
TESDA Deputy Director General on Policies and Planning, Rosanna Urdaneta said the program was launched with the welfare of the OFWs in mind.
The courses available are:
 Motorcycle and Small Engine Servicing,
Solar Lamps Assembly,
Audio -Video Products Maintenance,
 Massage Therapy,
Carpentry,
 Masonry
Process Food by salting, curing and smoking,
Cookery,
 Welding,
Plumbing,
 Electrical Installation Maintenance
and Bus/Straight Truck Driving.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto abella said that these programs must assure the OFWs  that the government is supportive of them and they have a partner in the government.
For interested OFWs, you can inquire at any TESDA Office near you or visit their website at http://www.tesda.gov.ph/
