PRESIDENT DUTERTE BRP TUBBATAHA INAUGURAL SPEECH BELOW:
The BRP Tubbataha is a Multi-response Rescue Vehicle (MRRV) from Japan.It can be used for rescues and for implementation of maritime laws, pollution control and sea patrols.
The first ship to arrive last August,is among the 10 MRRV ships that will come from Japan,BRP Tubbataha has been inaugurated by President Rodrigo Duterte during the 115th Anniversary of The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
It is named after the lighthouse Tubbataha located in Palawan ,signifying the important role of the lighthouse as an aid of navigation for the mariners.
BRP Tubbataha is built by the Japan Marine United Corporation.Another MRRV s expected to arrive in the Philippines by December this year.Another four in 2017 and all the 10 ships will be completed on 2018.
The ship took 7 days of sailing before it finally reached the Philippines last August.The brand new ships are funded from the Php8.8Billion loan from JICA.
