Tax Identification Number or TIN issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue is required to any company or individual tax payer in the Philippines. How to get a Tax Identification Number?
Getting your own TIN is free of charge and there are two ways on how you can get your TIN:
1. Proceed to the nearest BIR Revenue District Office (RDO) for your area and file your application.
BIR Form 1901 - Application for Registration for Self-Employed and Mixed Income Individuals, Estates/Trusts
BIR Form 1902 - Application for Registration For Individuals Earning Purely Compensation Income, and Non-Resident Citizens / Resident Alien Employee
3. Submit BIR Form 1902 0r 1901 to the Revenue District Office (RDO) having jurisdiction over the place of office of the employer where such employee is expected to report for work.

What are the Requirements?
Here are the requirements if you prefer to proceed to the nearest BIR Revenue District Office (RDO):
Note: The RDO number is classified according to address
- Barangay Clearance
- Community Tax Certificate (Cedula)
- NSO-authenticated birth certificate or certified copy from the local Civil Registrar
- Employment Certificate from the company where you are working. (Unemployed persons cannot apply for a TIN, unless he/she is reapplying for a driver's license.)
- TIN of the company you are working for. (if using 1902 form for employees)
If you prefer to get a TIN through BIR's eREG, all you need is a unique and valid email address through which the TIN and other instructions on taxpayer registration shall be sent.
What are the process in getting your TIN?
Getting a TIN from the Bureau of Internal Revenue RDO:
- Pass all the required documents
- Fill out the form that will be given in the BIR
- After turning in the form you filled out, wait for your name to be called.
- When your name is called, you will given your TIN ID card.
Here are the steps to get your Tax Identification Number online:
- Go to BIR's eREG website: https://ereg.bir.gov.ph/ereg/welcome.do
- Scroll down and fill out the registration form like the one below:
- Make sure the email address you entered is working and all details are correct. Click submit.
- You're done. Just wait for the BIR's email regarding the issuance of your Tax Identification Number.

What to do when you forget your Tax Identification Number?
There are two ways on how to recover your Tax Identification Number in case you've forgotten it:
- You can go to the neareast BIR Revenue District Office and ask your Tax Identification Number. Just bring a valid ID, government issued ID or a company ID.
- If the first option is hassle for you, you can simply call the BIR Contact Center by dialing (02) 981-8888. A representative of the BIR will attend to you and you will be asked to give your name and answer a few verification questions in order for you to get a hold of your TIN.
