NOTARIZATION OF INVITATION OR SPONSORSHIP OF DUBAI TRAVELERS, NO LONGER NEEDED

Starting on Monday, October 3, 2016 invitation or sponsorship of travel agencies to all Dubai-bound Filipino travelers need not be notarized.

This is according to the advisory of the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai last September 27.

The Consulate General said, this will give "due priority to the Bureau of Immigration's examination of the traveler's documents and determination of his/her capacity to support the travel abroad."

United Arab Emirates requires visit visa to all foreigners who wish to enter the country for personal, tourism, visit to relatives or friends, or any other reasons.

The applicant for this type of visa should be sponsored by a person who is presently residing in the UAE. In the absence of a relative, a visitor can apply in any travel agencies in Dubai.

But it is a common knowledge that many Filipinos uses visit visa and sponsorship from their relatives who is currently working there to enter the country and for a chance also to find a work.

In 2014, about 22% of Filipinos in UAE are irregular migrants or not properly documented.

They do not have valid residence or work permit or they are overstaying.
