Isa ito sa tinututukang programa ng Department of Information and Communications Technology kung saan nilalagyan nila ang mga munisipyo, hospitals, mga schools at universities at iba pang pampublikong lugar ng free wifi para may access ang mga kababayan sa libreng internet.
4,000 mahigit na sa halos 6,000 na mga lugar ang lalagyan ng DICT ngayong taon ng mga signal ng wifi at internet, at narito ang listahan at mapa ng mga LIVE na sites ng internet sa buong bansa kung saan pwede kang makapagkonek ng libre. Tingnan ang lugar na pinakamalapit sa inyo.

Sa kasalukuyan ay meron ng mahigit sa 4,000 na mga wifi hotspots at mga live sites ang DICT sa iba't ibang panig ng kapuluan, at target nila na makapaglagay ng 6,000 spots ngayong taon. Mas pinaigting ng DICT ang programang ito lalo pa sa epekto ng pandemic kung saan ang mga estudyante at mga tao ay kailangang gumamit ng internet. The Free Wi-Fi for All – Free Public Internet Access Program aims to accelerate the Philippine government’s efforts in enhancing internet accessibility for Filipinos so that economic, social, and educational opportunities will be bolstered, and the growing digital divide can be bridged.
Drawing its mandate from the provisions of Republic Act No. 10929, the Free Wi-Fi for All Program provides free, fast, and secure Internet access in public places across the Philippines, such as hospitals, basic education institutions, state universities and colleges, airports and seaports, terminal, among others.
The Free Wi-Fi for All – Free Public Internet Access Program aims to accelerate the Philippine government’s efforts in enhancing internet accessibility for Filipinos so that economic, social, and educational opportunities will be bolstered, and the growing digital divide can be bridged.
By developing relevant systems and enhancing existing ones, the Free Wi-Fi for All– Free Public Internet Access Program aims to:
- provide Wi-Fi Internet access at no charge in selected public places;
- provide efficient and effective ICT infrastructure and information systems to the public;
- promote the use of ICT to improve the delivery of critical functions of government services;
- provide a lower entry barrier for users, as well as improve accessibility;
- through public-private partnerships, provide commercial services, but with direct government intervention – in the form of investments – only as a method of last resort; and
- acquire secured official electronic communications and collaboration systems.
