Passport on Wheels (POW) of DFA Starts With 4 Buses To Process 2000 Applicants Daily


Did you had any trouble placing your online appointment as all slots are now occupied and you need to get a passport as soon as possible? Sit tight, Passport On Wheels (POW) is now up and ready to serve and your place might be their next destination.  With the initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) headed by Secretary Allan Peter Cayetano, the consular services, in their aim to decongest the consular offices in Manila, launches "passport on wheels" with four buses that can serve at least 500 people a day— a total of 2000 slots per day.    The program was launched on January 15, 2018 at the Villar sipag, Pulang Lupa, Las Piñas as a recognition of Senator Cynthia Villars role in co-sponsoring and pursuing the passport longevity bill that has been a law increasing the validity of Philippine passports to ten years.  Passport on wheels next destination will be Manila City hall. Phe mobile passporting system will then visit different cities and municipalities starting next week. DFA is planning to bring passport on wheels in as far as Visayas and Mindanao as well.  Cayetano said that the growing demand on passport application caused delays and hassle in making online appointments. Passport on wheels is an effective tool to lessen the burden of falling in long queues at DFA consular offices.  DFA is also eyeing on improving passport on wheels by switching on to bigger vehicles in the near future. In his speech during the launch of passport on wheels, DFA Secretary Cayetano  quoted what President Rodrigo Duterte is  always saying to his cabinet— to do every possible way to make the lives of Filipinos easier.
