Eight airports nationwide are currently undergoing a rehabilitation and expansion for its upgrade so that it can accommodate and will be capable of night-flight operations.
According to Makati City Representative Luis Campos Jr., these airports can be found in Naga in Camarines Sur, Tuguegarao, Cauayan, Dumaguete, Dipolog, Cotabato, Pagadian, and Ozamiz.

The main goal of this is to decongest the ever busy Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), who is no longer belong to the worst airport in the world.
According to Campus, repairs are ongoing. This includes the widening of the breath of the runway and the upgrade of terminal facilities for night flight capabilities.
He said there are 42 airports in the country but only 19 of this received and dispatch night flights.

In 2018, he confirmed that the Duterte Administration set aside around P10.1 billion fresh funds to modernize the infrastructure of 40 airports. Biggest of this or the P2.74 billion will be going to Clark International Airport.
Other 13 smaller airport across the country will be getting combined of P262.61 million or an average of P20.20 million each, for infrastructure upgrades.
