President Rodrigo Duterte warned erring cops who defied orders to go to Basilan that they would be killed if they continue with their illegal activities after their dismissal.Duterte said during an interview with reporters in Malacañang on Tuesday, that he would order the policemen who chose not go to Basilan to be dismissed. Last week, out of 310 policemen, only 53 showed up for the flight that would take them to the province.
“They should be subjected to summary dismissal, and I have requested the police to form particularly a squad and watch over these policemen that are dismissed from their posts. Most of them, the ninjas, criminals, so they are high in the list. Do not be surprised if they are killed because they are wanted and so are the police who are dismissed for committing crimes,” the President said.
Philippine National Police chief Dir. Gen. Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa said he has already signed the dismissal order for around 200 policemen.
Jee Ick Joo, who was allegedly abducted by anti-drug policemen from his home in Pampanga. Investigation showed that he was killed right inside the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, prompting Duterte to order Dela Rosa to suspend police anti-drug operations because of corruption followed by purging the police department of scalawags in uniform.
According to the President, scalawags in the police force were likely to continue their illegal activities.
They will be marked and monitored from time to time.
President Duterte warned the policemen that will leave the service to turn on doing business with drugs for money that they will become special targets.
“I’m warning the public especially the media right now, do not be surprised if they are killed one of these days—one by one, ” he said.
