A lady who is about to exchange marriage vows with her long time partner did not make it to the altar after she found out that her name was already used by another person to marry a certain Japanese national whom she was never aware of.
The odd thing is, technically, she is already married but actually she's not.

In the Sumbungan ng Bayan segment of 24 Oras GMA News hosted by Mike Enriquez, a case of a woman who was about to get married with her partner failed to do it because as she was handed her CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage), she found out that she was already married to a certain Japanese named Yuki Takahashi since 1998.
Julita Cortez said that she never knew or met the Japanese and that she was never married before. Together with sumbungan ng Bayan, they went to the place where the wedding was allegedly took place but the residents deny that the said address exists. They went to the civil registry office of Caloocan but the City Civil Registrar said that they don't have the ability to verify the identity of the people who are getting married as they assume that the people who are applying for marriage license are the same person they tell they are as the presumption of regularity applies.
They advised Julita to get a lawyer so that the marriage entry at the Civil Registry will be corrected. She went to the Public a
Attorney's Office (PAO) and submitted her supporting documents to prove her identity. Surprisingly, even the name of Julita's parents are written in the fake marriage contract but their addresses are wrong. PAO Lawyer Atty. Carmela Ablaza also found out that Julita's signature was also forged as they do not resemble her signatures with her submitted proof of identity.
As advised by the lawyer, Julita should file a petition of correction of entry at the RTC near to the Civil Registry where the alleged marriage was entered. PAO issued an endorsement to their satellite office to help speed up the process for Julita.
