P2.193 Billion OWWA 2017 Budget Now Approved






The budget for OFW Loans from OWWA has been approved. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is one of the government agencies that safeguards the welfare of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families but they cannot do their duties if they will only count on the membership fees from the OFWs going abroad for work.
In a Facebook post, Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac of  OWWA has announced approval of  the P 2.193 Billion  OWWA fund for the coming year.
According to Admin Cacdac, this is the highest annual budget ever allocated for OWWA, even 16% higher than the previous year.



               


Welfare assistance Program  for OFWs abroad expanded by 64% from P13 million to P21.334 million.






Repatriation assistance increased by 13% from P26.750 million to P30.093 million.


Reintegration Services for returning OFWs increased by 75% from P116 million to P203.413 million
50% increase included in the Reintegration Services of  returning OFW Household Service Workers in "Balik-Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay" Program, from p 40 million to P60 million.
The increase by 79% for Reintegration Services  for the Livelihood for the families of the deceased OFWs from P21 million to P37.5 million. 

A budget of P7.5 million  for the OFW and their families affected by recent typhoon Lawin.

Seafarers' Upgrading Program fund for the seafarers has increased by 4% from P67.28 million to P70 million.
Membership Registration and Promotion Services has increased by 86%  from P11.79 million to P21.875 million.

P5 million  allocated for electronic "Case Management System, for speedy response for OFW cases abroad and to inform their families back home.
 Membership Registration and Promotion Services includes having the OWWA Mobile Phone App and expanded OWWA Social Media presence.

P75 million will be allocated for additional Welfare Officers in Philippine Overseas Labor Offices worldwide.








OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac calls for the cooperation of everyone for the successful implementation of the programs and projects of OWWA and for the appropriate spending of the 2017 OWWA budget. "This budget is for all of you," he said.
