A Tax Identification Number (TIN) is an important document from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) that is used for tax purposes. Some banks require it on bank transactions while some banks don’t, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) requires a TIN if you are applying for a professional driver’s license. If you want to put up a business, no matter how big or small it is, you may need to provide a TIN number.
Take note that we are only assigned ONE (1) lifetime TIN number. The BIR strictly forbids taxpayers for having more than one TIN. So if ever you forgot or lost your tax ID number, you do not need to register to get another one. All you need to do is to recover and verify your TIN from the BIR.
