Vacationing OFW From Saudi Arabia Shot By Unidentified Gunman Hours After Arrival In Manila

On Tuesday, just barely a few hours after his arrival in Manila from Saudi Arabia, a 47-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was gunned down by an unidentified assailant in Pasig City.
Eastern Police District, Pasig City Police chief Senior Supt Orlando Yebra Jr, in his report said Ricardo Monteroyo of Centennial 2, Brgy Pinagbuhatan was shot in the head two times along Bigasan St in Brgy Caniogan at around 8:20 in the evening.

A man wearing a cap went very near the victim and shot him twice. the suspect casually fled the crime scene as if nothing happened.  According  to PO2 Danilo Damasco of Pasig police, the motive of the killing is still under investigation.  Monteroyo went straight to his cousin’s house from the airport before meeting his wife.  The gunman, according to Damasco, waited until the OFW’s two companions passed by the alley before gunning down the victim who died on the spot due to fatal headshots according to Pasig Emergency Unit.  The suspect who was seen wearing a cap, then fled casually towards A. Mabini St. in Brgy. Kapasigan.  Two cartridge cases were recovered by police from the crime scene.   Monteroyo, according to Damasco, has been working as an electronics and communications engineer in Saudi Arabia for several years now. Sometime in 2015, he joined an investment, networking activity, and recruited other people. The investment failed, so there is a possibility that the investors he recruited were after him.
