Oman Issued Temporary Ban On Visa Issuance For Ten Employment Sectors

The Sultanate of Oman will not issue any work visa for foreign workers, including overseas Filipino workers (OFW), belonging in ten employment sectors which will directly affect 87 skills and profession for the period of six months.

Last January 24th, Oman Ministry of Manpower (MoM) released Ministerial Decision 38/2018 suspending authorization in hiring foreign workers as a part of private sector nationalization policy to give jobs for 25,000 Omani nationals.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) press statement also said that the Ministry of Manpower ng Oman will not process any work visa until June 24, 2018, for selected positions while studying the effect of the policy to their people and its possible benefits to their economy during the period of suspension.

All visas issued before the ban remains valid until its expiration.

The temporary ban does not include establishments registered under Oman Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (RIYADA) and all which are secured at Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI).
