State insurer PhilHealth will help cover the hospital stay of members who are suspected to have the novel coronavirus. That's according to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III who said the PhilHeealth board convened on Thursday to come up with a so-called 'nCoV' package.

"Yesterday, the PhilHealth Board convened and decided that there will be a novel coronavirus package. P1,000 per day for the hospital that takes care of a patient of novel [coronavirus] even not confirmed," Duque said in an interview with Karen Davila on ANC TV.
He said that this would apply to the 14-day quarantine period that is needed. Philhealth will pay the hospital P1,000 daily for the next 14 days.
"If pneumonia sets in, then there's a pneumonia package—from mild, P16,000, to severe P32,000,"
