Since OFWs are exempted from paying the terminal fee, Monreal said, all they need to do is present their Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) issued by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration when buying their airline tickets. “OFWs can also get their refund at the airline counters at NAIA, upon presentation of their OECs,” Monreal said. The OFWs, Monreal added, may opt to claim the refund at the MIAA administration building, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holidays. “The refund has no expiration date,” Monreal noted. Since March 15, 2017, Monreal said airline officials have stopped collecting the terminal fees upon orders of President Duterte. “Our OFWs are our modern heroes for helping our country’s economy to grow through their remittances; hence their exemption from the terminal fee,” Monreal said. A Filipino woman faked her own death and stole her sister’s identity just to apply for a passport. Unfortunately, she is now about to lose her U.S. citizenship. Identity theft is a serious crime. It’s unclear if she will be stripped off of her American citizenship by federal authorities but it is more likely to happen. Prosecutors say Arindela was already married when she married an American man in 2000. She moved to the U.S. in 2002 and later became a naturalized citizen, using her sister’s name. In spite of the rising prices of commodities and services and others due to the high inflation rate, many Filipinos believe that the country is on the right track. Just recently, the new minimum fare is being set to P10 while the minimum wage remains stuck. That is what the latest SWS survey indicates. Ads Sponsored Links The latest survey shows that from 70% in the second quarter of this year, the statistics went up to 75%. On the other hand, only 22% believed the Philippines is in the wrong path while 3% of the 1,500 respondents did not give an answer during the conducted survey. Malacañang welcomes this result as a vindication that the administration is doing their job the keep the country on track. “PRRD emphasized in numerous occasions that as government workers, we are here to serve the people. Our objective as public servants is thus being able to perform our respective duties well,” Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said. “Therefore, we treat the results of this recent survey not as an accolade but as an inspiration for our men and women in the government as they persist in carrying on with their roles in the service,” Panelo added. According to the presidential spokesperson, the strong public appreciation would further engage the Filipino people in supporting the Duterte administration in building “a nation where all Filipinos can experience comfortable and decent lives under a trustworthy government.” Filed under the category of commodities and services, high inflation rate, Filipinos, minimum fare, minimum wage, SWS survey

OFW Retrieved Her Bag With Over P200K With The Help Of MIAA

Working abroad takes a lot of sacrifices and patience. Every cent of which the overseas Filipino workers (OFW) earn were all from hard work, skipped meals and sleepless nights. Losing over P200,000 for an OFW who is about to stay home for good could hurt a lot. that's why the OFW is very grateful that she recovered it with the help of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) management.
In spite of the many issues that happened before at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), its management is doing everything to gain back their good reputation.

Be Careful of Padala! 416 Bullet Casings Found in Pinay's Luggage in NAIA

It is very common for us Filipinos especially OFWs from other countries to accept "padala" for other people when vacationing in the Philippines. But to all Filipinos who are doing this, you should avoid this if possible to avoid problems later on your travel.

It is very common for us Filipinos especially OFWs from other countries to accept "padala" for other people when vacationing in the Philippines. But to all Filipinos who are doing this, you should avoid this if possible to avoid problems later on your travel. This is what happens to a Filipina from Hawaii after 416 .38-caliber bullet casings were found in her luggage. The woman arrived in NAIA terminal 2 on Monday, July 2, 2018, from Honolulu Hawaii and had a connecting flight to Laoag, Ilocos Norte. The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) did not identify the woman but said she is a Filipino with US Citizenship. According to MIAA statement, a security screener monitored an image resembling a large amount of ammunition in her bag during a routine X-ray inspection. The bullet casings were later found inside, contained in a plastic bag and then placed in a box. The woman said the box belonged to her brother-in-law who had asked her to carry it. She is being told that the box contained clothes. She added that she did not know that she is carrying bullet casings. Meanwhile, the MIAA General Manager Eddie Monreal clarified that the incident is not a "tanim-bala" because the woman admitted that she carried the box. After the documentation, the woman was allowed to board her flight after the investigation that she has no intention to do harm.

No doubt, Saudi Arabia is still a top destination for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) for many years now. But with the implementation of Saudization, the "world" of OFWs and other expatriates in Saudi Arabia is getting smaller. Started in 2011 up to now, the Kingdom is slowly limiting some jobs to their locals to boost local employment of Saudis. This includes jobs that former belong to OFWs and other expats. This 2018, another batch of job categories in Saudi Arabia will be limited to locals or their nationals by the end of the year. The Saudi Labor and Social Development Ministry has issued an order that limits 12 jobs and different shops only to their citizens. It means expat workers are no longer allowed to apply for these jobs. According to ministry spokesman Khaled Aba Al Khail, starting September 11, 2018, no expats will be allowed to work in car and motorbike shops, men's and children's wear, home and office furniture, and home utensils. This will be followed by Saudization on shops that sells electronics and electric appliances, watches, and eyeglasses that will take effect on November 9, this year. This is not the end yet, because, by January next year, Saudi Arabia will also nationalize jobs at medical equipment, building materials, car spare parts, carpet and rugs and confectionary shops. This will start on January 7, 2019. Saudization starts in 2011 as part of the Kingdom's initiative to encourage Saudi national to work in the private sector.
