P1,000 Monthly Allowance to Manila Colleges Students Under Mayor Isko Moreno!


Starting January 2020 students with good standing from the Universidad de Manila and the Pamantasang ng Lungsod ng Maynila will receive P1,000 allowance monthly from the city government.  This is after Manila Mayor Isko Moreno signed a city ordinance giving P1,000 monthly to students in "good standing" enrolled in the Manila-funded colleges. The ordinance will take effect on January 2020.  Under Ordinance No. 8568, the following are qualifications of those who will receive the P1,000 monthly;  Undergraduate students in good standing, of PLM or UDM who is a resident and registered voter of the City of Manila.  If the student is still not of legal age, his or her parents or guardians must be registered voters of the city.  Students who are not under probation or without any citation and disciplinary record or with "good standing"  The Manila city government estimates that the program can help up to 10,000 college students.  The UDM President Ernesto Maceda Jr. called the ordinance as "heaven-sent" given that many of their poor students struggle with their studies.  The new mayor of Manila continues to make headlines after he starts his term. Earlier, he launched a massive clean-up operation in his first month on the job. Clearing up Manila was among his main campaign promises. He also promises to restore tourism in Manila which includes reviving the capital's cultural heritage and re-opening of Manila Zoo among others.

Under Ordinance No. 8568, the following are qualifications of those who will receive the P1,000 monthly;
