As parents, we want our children to be healthy and safe from any sickness but what if your baby died because of the thing you expected and believed to keep your baby from harm against diseases would be the cause of her early demise? Gian Millecent Limpangog, 20, brought her 3-month-old daughter Ghirvaugh Mcreighn in a health center at Barangay Pajac, Lapu-lapu City in Cebu on November 8 for her second dose of Pentavalent vaccine for Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Hepatitis B and Haemophilus Influenzae Type B. Few hours after receiving the vaccine, the baby had fever and chilling. She was immediately brought to the hospital. the baby then transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center where she died. Ayesha Mae Suson, a 4-month-old baby shared the same fate as baby Ghirvaugh Mcreighn. Lenlen, Ayesha's mom, she also brought her baby on the same health center on the date. The baby died as well. Sponsored Links GMA News went to the health center but failed to meet the midwife who allegedly administered the vaccine to the infants. The nurse showed the medicine which is according to the nurse is not expired. The nurse also mentioned that they vaccinated 96 babies on that day. On their death certificates, baby Limpangog's cause of death was meningitis while baby Suson, according to what is written on the certificate, was severe dehydration. The City Health Office suspected that both babies was already sick and not feeling well at the time of administering the vaccine and the mothers concealed their real health conditions. The relatives of the babies want justice. They went to the office of the Department of Health Region 7 bearing the letters of the bereaved family requesting an investigation about the incident. Dr. Sophia Mancao, assistant Regional Director, DOH-7 assured them that they will summon the personnel of the health center for questioning. Reactions after vaccination like light fever and swelling on the part where the vaccine was administered are normal and not in anyway fatal. DOH Sec. Francisco Duque said that they will wait for the result of the investigation about what happene to the infants before taking appropriate actions.
