Saudi Warns Consumer Against Drinking Rokan and Al-Dar Bottled Water!

Due to exceeding amount of bromate, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has warned people against drinking Rokan and Al-Dar bottled water, sizes 200, 330, and 600 ml. These are produced by Al-Dar factory for water, juice, and plastic in Madinah. According to SFDA, they conducted a test from samples of bottled water on different production dates and different sizes to determine if it follows the Gulf standards for "bottled drinking water."

Base on the standard, the maximum amount of bromate should not exceed 10 parts per billion. Base on the test result of Rokan and Al-Dar water samples, size 200, 330, and 600 ml. it shows that water produced at Al-Dar factory for water, juice, and plastic in Madinah exceeded the maximum limits.

With this, the SFDA warns that consumers should avoid these products and dispose of remaining quantities they may have.

SFDA added that it has taken necessary action to make sure that the factory recalls its products from the market and halt production until such time they follow the permitted amounts of bromate.

According to www.health.ny.gov. "exposure to large amounts of bromate for a long period of time caused kidney effects in laboratory animals. Long-term exposure to high levels of bromate has also caused cancer in rats. Whether bromate can cause cancer in people is not known."

"Some people may be at greater risk of developing health effects from bromate exposure or have concerns for their pregnancy or nursing infant. Because bromate can cause health effects in kidneys, it is possible that those with pre-existing kidney conditions could be at greater risk."
