These are the possible reasons:
May bill, plus adjustments on the March and April bills. Remember, lahat ng April bills at ilang March bills ay estimated based on average consumption for the past 3 months dahil sa #ECQ and in accordance to Distribution Services and Open Access Rules" or DSOAR issued by the ERC.
Maaaring mas mataas din ang konsumo natin ngayon dahil during ECQ, naging #NewNormal ang staying and working from home, at sinamahan pa ng summer. Kaya mas madalas ang pag gamit ng TV, computer, electric fan, aircon, at ref.
For unpaid balances from bills due within ECQ period (March 1 to May 15), pwede mo itong bayaran in 4 monthly installments.

Understanding Your May Bill
1. I got my May bill today. How come the total amount due is double or more than my April bill?
As part of the ECQ period, some March and all April bills were estimated based on the past 3 months’ average daily consumption following the Distribution Services and Open Access Rules (DSOAR) issued by the ERC.
These past 3 months- December 2019, January 2020 and February 2020, were considered “low consumption” months as these were significantly cooler months compared to the summer months of March, April and May.
Aside from these, the following factors may have affected your May bill:
- Increased consumption during ECQ- Everyone’s at home, so appliances are switched on most of the time, especially fans and aircons. Aircons which most would use 6 to 8 hours per day before ECQ could be using it for 12 to 24 hours per day in ECQ.
- Temperatures are at record high (max so far for 2020 is at 37.3⁰C with Heat Index of 42⁰C)
- Actual Consumption minus Estimated Consumption was added in the May bill.
The May bill is a result of the actual kWh Consumption from the current meter reading, less the estimated consumption.
Please see this sample chart in the increase of consumption during this period.
Notes:
Note X is just an example; the actual increase is measured via the actual meter reading.
Note Y - This is based on DSOAR.
To ease your burden from bills piling up, unpaid bills with due date from March 1 to May 15, 2020 (bill date from Feb 21 to May 6) will be converted to 4 equal monthly installments. The first installment amount will reflect starting bills dated May 16 to be delivered on May 18.
Please refer to this chart for installment calculations.
Note:
* May 6 bill date is part of the ECQ period.
** Total bill for the months of bills dated May 16 to September will be significantly higher because of the installment. Your bill will normalize starting October.
For some customers whose meters have not been read due to suspension of meter reading in accordance to ECQ/GCQ guidelines, your May bills will still be estimated.
Find out if your May bill reflects an estimated consumption by looking at the back of your bill:
- Under Metering Information
- Under Additional Bill Information
If your May bill is still estimated, it will reflect the past 3-months (February, March and April) average daily consumption. Adjustments will be reflected as soon as we are able to read your meter and get your actual reading. Please see below illustration:
May 2020 estimated bill sample table
Note: *Estimated kWh Consumption for May is based on the daily average kWh consumption of February 2020, March 2020, and April 2020 multiplied with the number of days in May or ((200 + 204 + 193) / (29 + 31 + 30)) * 31 = 206 kWh (rounded off)
You are assured that once the enhanced community quarantine is lifted and operations normalize, we will be able to read all meters and make the necessary adjustments. You will only pay for what you consumed.
