UN Criticized Philippines Slow Rehabilitation Effort For Yolanda Victims?

According to a report of DZRH, a press conference at Malacanang was held yesterday, where UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction Margareta Walhstrom said that the rehabilitation efforts of the government seems to be going in a slow pace because a lot of the victims remain homeless. Wahlstrom is worried on the current situation of Yolanda victims in case another calamity happens, right now there are still many victims staying in temporary shelters in Tacloban and other areas in Leyte.

The UN official said that the government should coordinate with its local government units and communities in pushing for its disaster risk reduction programs in fighting off the effects of climate change brought by strong typhoons in the country.
Back in Nov. 2015 Malacañang already received attacks from critics because of slow rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts. Presidential Spokesperson Sec. Edwin Lacierda said back then that the criticism was contrary to positive assessment of foreign observers, including the United Nations.

The report quoted Lacierda as follows:
