The following table are guidelines from the Transportation Security Administration for items that are allowed and provided for both hand carry and checked-in baggages during air travels. We understand that not all of these items maybe applicable in the Middle East and Asian countries and we advise individual passengers if you have questions to direct it to your travel agents and airline companies.
via Rappler: PAL suspends cargo carriage of lithium ion batteries
"The suspension of lithium ion battery shipments coincides with the growing number of international carriers banning the shipment of the product.  Flag carrier Philippine Airlines Inc (PAL) is no longer accepting lithium ion batteries for carriage as cargo, citing potential fire hazards posed by such type of shipment.
Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are used in consumer electronics such as mobile telephones and laptop computers. Non-rechargeable lithium metal batteries are generally used to power devices such as watches, calculators, and temperature data loggers.
PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime Bautista said the airline is imposing the ban on lithium ion battery shipments, amid the growing number of international carriers banning the shipment of the product.
“Safety is the cornerstone of our operations. We mitigate risks as we assure our passengers of our commitment to safety,” Bautista said."
Faulty battery in passenger’s handbag delays Saudia flight
A bad flammable battery inside a passenger’s handbag on a Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 777-200 Flight No. SV885, heading to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh from Guangzhou, China, spread sparks and smoke and caused the delay of the flight after all passengers were removed from the plane for their safety...
Al-Shahrani commended the prompt action of the crew as they followed and applied all necessary safety measures.
“They took the bag outside the plane and removed passengers from the plane to ensure their safety. They directed them to a specialized medical center for checks and to make sure they were capable of boarding the plane again. Such measures are employed by Saudi Arabian Airlines within the framework of its operational processes,” he said.
He advised passengers not to carry flammable devices or material while traveling on planes because of the hazards and dangers they pose to their lives and the lives of others as well.
“International aviation systems prohibit carrying such devices and materials,” he said.
