Wrap Your Baggages to and from the Philippines?

Please share this very important message especially to our fellow OFWs going home for vacation or going back here or anywhere in the Middle East
We have heard different stories from OFWs who are travelling for vacation, or returning after annual vacation complained about their baggages being ripped, some valuables were stolen, or worst, some were arrested for allegedly carrying dangerous drugs or prohibited items like bullets in NAIA which are often placed by syndicates and gangs in order to extort money or to traffic illegal drugs.
The following are some of the things you can do to protect yourself from being a victim of theft and

If you are buying new luggage bags, you can opt for PC (polycarbonate) bags or hard shell bag. The material of these kind of bags are difficult to rip off with knife, unlike the luggage bags made of canvass or fabric. Shell bags that have secure locks instead of zippers are also a much better choice .

Shell bags that have secure locks instead of zippers are also a much better choice .
Watch this video how easily they can tamper a zipped luggage although it is already locked.

To avoid this from happening, and ending up with  ripped or lost baggage items, we recommend to you to have it wrapped with cling film or plastic wrap. Here in Saudi Arabia, there are service stations that does plastic wrapping with SAR 20 charge for each baggage. In return, you get added security that your bags, luggage and boxes are free of scratches or damages, and the content are safer not to be opened by someone at the airport. In Saudi Arabia and Middle East airports you can find many kiosk or service stations for baggage wrapping  at the departure areas. If there is none in your area, you can buy a roll of CLING FILM or clear plastic wrap that is available from the grocery section and wrap it around the bags, or boxes several times to seal and protect your luggage from hands of thieves, drug syndicates or gangs who might either take items from your bag or place prohibited items that could land you in jail.

If you are going back to your host country from the Philippines, it is a must, and we highly recommend that you wrap your baggages and plead for everybody to share this recommendation because this is important, and vital for the safety of our love ones travelling abroad.  For SR 10, we were able to buy a roll of cling wrap, enough to cover 3 luggages.
Many international airports are also offering this service like Secure Wrap in many airports in the USA.

Pag-Ibig Offers Solar Power Loan

One of the ways where our homes can use green energy, or energy that is clean, safe and cost efficient is having solar panel installed in your own homes.

That light can then be converted into electricity through the use of solar panels

Solar panels can be mounted on roof, ground, or on fixed racks or poles above the ground.

Solar power is becoming more popular now but for those who doesn't have background or knowledge to set-up their own solar power system the installation can be pricey.

The price range to install usually range from Php 20,000 to Php 500,000. But can be cheaper for those who can do the installation by themselves.

Right now, Pag-Ibig is offering loan for those who would like to set-up their solar power. They are offering help to finance the installation of  solar panels in your home through Home Improvement Loan. To save on installation cost  you also  have the option to loan for the purchase of materials like solar panels which you can install yourself.

Right now, the Pag-Ibig Fund is offering financing option or home improvement loan  so that more households can afford to install solar panels.

TWO ROADS IN LIFE

When I served a two years volunteer mission almost 15 years ago, the most intriguing and catchy questions I asked people from all walks of life, are these;

Where did you come from? Why are you here? Where are you heading?

Some sarcastic answer includes; I come from my mother's womb, I am here to eat, sleep and be merry, and I am going to the grave when I die.

Some thoughtful answer are these; I come from God, I am here to live a life, and I will be back to Heaven if I am good.

My faith and belief teach me and help me know some of the answers, generally speaking, about the purpose of life, about the plan of God for each of us, and what's the purpose of our coming here on earth. But each day, as we face different trials and challenges, we are still in the process of knowing all the answers to so many questions. I will be hypocrite I will say boldly that I know the answers to the all life's questions but I entrust everything to the all knowing God, and someday, maybe not in this life but in the life to come, we will know the answers.

"Everyone chooses one of the two roads in life - the old and the young, the rich and the poor, men and women alike. One is the broad, well-travelled road to mediocrity, the other the road to greatness and meaning. The range of possibilities that exist within each of these two destinations is as the diversity of gifts and personalities of the human family. But the contrast between the two destinations is as the night is to the day.

The path to mediocrity strait jacks human potential. The path to greatness unleashes and realizes human potential. The path to mediocrity is the quick-fix, short-cut approach to life. The path to greatness is a process of sequential growth from the inside-out. Travellers on the lower path to mediocrity live out the cultural software of ego, indulgence, scarcity, comparison, competitiveness and victimism. Travellers on the upper path to greatness rise above negative cultural influence and choose to become the creative force of their lives. One word expresses the pathway to greatness. VOICE. Those of this path find their voice and inspire others to find theirs. The rest never do. "

Each of us will never become great, famous or rich. There will be some who will be blessed abundantly, and there will be some who will live in vanity. There will be some who will be looked up by many, and there will be some who may never know how they inspire others. We try to uplift, we share the source of our enthusiasm and courage. We believe that beauty is to be enjoyed, and we can be happy if we decide or choose to be happy.

A man named Lehi, along time ago, taught us that there will be opposition in all things, good and bad, sweet and sour, pain and joy. There will always be two roads in life. One that leads to exaltation and never ending happiness, one is damnation, leading to eternal misery and forever shut out in the presence of God.

The choice is ours to make which road to take.

Choose the Right.
Choose eternal life.

WARNING: NO FAKE DOCUMENTS ALLOWED FOR WORKING ABROAD

POEA and recruitment agencies are giving a strong warning to the public, especially those applying for overseas work - NO FAKE DOCUMENTS.

In a press release, POEA says it will imposed penalties of 40 months suspension of license to any agencies and recruiters for misrepresentation and falsification of documents of those applying for work overseas. Some of those fake certificates includes TESDA certificates for kasambahay or household service workers.

Recruitment agencies are also implementing strict verification starting this week, once an OFW submit a certificate, they are asking for verification and contact numbers of schools, and universities for them to verify if the diploma or certificate is authentic.
POEA Administrator Mr. Hansa Cacdac said:

“Our government recognizes that the ultimate protection to all migrant workers is the possession of skills and familiarity with the country and language of their employers and host governments that is why OFWs for deployment as HSWs are required to complete the competency requirements under the Philippine TVET Qualification and Certification System,” Cacdac said.

Cacdac reminded recruitment agencies that they are expected to ensure the authenticity and validity of documents and they are liable for any irregularity in its issuance.

News from the ABS-CBN mentioned about several agencies already penalized for submitting forged certificates:

The POEA said several licensed recruiters have already been penalized for submitting forged TESDA national certificates.
Just recently, Cacdac ordered the cancellation of the license of Jardy International Promotion Agency, Mi Amore International Services, Inc., and Greenback International Manpower Services.

He also suspended of the license of Beracah Human Resources
Consultancy, Global Medical Systems, Inc. and Cinderella International Manpower Services Corporation, for passing on to the POEA fake Comprehensive Pre-Departure Education Program Certificates of Attendance (CPDEP-COA).

“These agencies are liable for leading the POEA to believe that the documents of applicants are authentic, when in truth, the subject certificates are fraudulent,” Cacdac said.

The penalty of cancellation of license is imposed on a recruitment agency found to have committed misrepresentation for the third time.

Cacdac earlier reminded recruitment agencies that they were expected to ensure the authenticity and validity of documents submitted to the POEA because they are liable for any irregularity in its issuance.
As a consequence of the penalty of cancellation of license, the officers and directors of Jardy International Promotion Agency, Mi Amore International Services, Inc., and Greenback International Manpower Services who committed the offense are disqualified from participating in the business of recruitment and placement of overseas Filipino workers.
