GRAPHIC VIDEO WARNING: 23-Foot Python Swallows 54-Year Old Mother of Two

An Indonesian woman who was reported missing by her two children has been found in the belly of a giant python. The swollen snake was captured near where villagers found the victim's machete and sandals among other things. She vanished while tending her vegetable garden in the late hours of Thursday, police said. Videos of the moment the villagers recovered her body from the dead python is circulating on the internet. The body of 54-year-old Wa Tiba was found on Friday when villagers cut open the seven-metre (23ft) python which was found bloated in the village of Persiapan Lawela on the island of Muna, off Sulawesi.

Residents suspected the snake swallowed the victim whole, so they killed it and the snake’s belly was cut open. The body of the victim was found inside amid cries from relatives.

Residents and relatives launched a search for the woman after she failed to return from her garden on Thursday night. Hamka said villagers found the giant serpent lying about 30 metres from Tiba’s sandals and machete.

The garden in which she disappeared was at the base of a rocky cliff, pockmarked by caves, and known to be home to snakes. Giant pythons, which easily grows to more than six meters, are commonly found in Indonesia and the Philippines. Pythons known to attack small animals, attempts to eat people are rare. Last year, a farmer was killed by a python in the village of Salubiro on Sulawesi island. In 2013, a security guard on the island of Bali was killed by a python at a luxury beachfront hotel.

P2,400 Cash Grants to Poor Senior Citizens

The distribution of unconditional cash transfer program (UCCP) of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has started. The poorest of the poor senior citizen from San Fernando, Pampanga are the ones who received first the payout. This is a part of the measure of the government to ease the inflationary impact of the tax reform law (TRAIN Law) on poor families. In San Fernando, Pampanga, 733 beneficiaries received the cash grants amounting to P2,400 each. According to DSWD Acting Secretary Virginia Orogo, other DSWD field offices in the regions are already preparing for the payroll documents for the provision of the subsidy to social pension beneficiaries in their respective regions. Overall, some 3 million senior citizens are expected to receive their grants. The unconditional cash transfer program is the tax subsidy provided under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law to cushion the adverse economic impact of the law for three years on the poor, starting 2018. For this year, beneficiaries will receive P200 per month or P2,400 for one year. In 2019 and 2020, the subsidy will increase to P300 or P3,600 a year. Aside from the 3 million social pensioners, beneficiaries also include the 4.4 million household-beneficiaries of the DSWDâ€™s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and the 2.6 million poor households listed under the DSWD National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction or "Listahanan." The recently implemented Train Law will increase taxpayers' take-home pay for most employees, but it would also lead to higher prices of cars, fuel, tobacco, and sugar-sweetened beverages. This, in turn, is expected to lead to higher transportation fares, prices of basic commodities, and power rates. Consumers have lamented that the increase in their earnings would only go to the additional cost of goods and services.

Babbel said that in order to prevent your self from the effects of bad news overload, everyone has to know their limits. This can be done by turning off push notifications on your social media to relieve yourself on stress causing news and articles. This can help you relax and soothe your nerves from the bad news that causes stress. "What is important is to pay attention to when you are overloaded when you start to get stressed, when you feel numb and moody or irritated or feel other outward symptoms of a nervous system response. Whenever you feel like you're 'off,' that is a signal. That is your signal that you need to stop." To soothe the nervous system, you can use stress management techniques such as exercise, spending time with friends and family, and relaxation techniques such as meditation, deep breathing and yoga. "The nervous system hijacks the logical brain," Babbel explained. "Once you are triggered by a traumatic event or hearing about trauma, people will often say, 'Just get over it.' You can't, because you don't have logic." All you can do is soothe your nervous system using the language it understands: sensation. Using any of the muscles in your face or vocal cords, such as deep breathing, humming or singing, will help calm your nervous system. "That's why soldiers often sing when they are going to war, to cope with the stress," Babbel said. Cultivating resilience together As climate change heightens the frequency and intensity of natural disasters, preparing and recovering from the crisis will become even more important. Traumatic events can dismantle the mental and social frameworks that support a healthy mind. Even after the floodwaters recede, the wildfire is put out or the rubble is cleared, many individuals face heightened threats to their mental health. "Across the board, one of the major mental health threats to well-being is feeling unmoored," said Christie Manning, assistant professor of environmental studies and psychology at Macalester College. "Think about the people who had their homes and lives destroyed by Harvey or Irma or the wildfires in California. People lose everything. Their lives become disconnected from their past and their community. They are now scattered," Manning said. The research points to a social connection as the bedrock of resilience and the best way to combat apathy. "The more that you are connected to others and you can call upon them, the more likely it is that your entire community will withstand," Manning said. The way forward is to learn effective ways to engage with reality without being consumed by it, explained Terry Osborne, a professor at Dartmouth College who studies the relationship of humans and nature. "The challenge is carrying the pain but not letting it bury you." Self-care can seem indulgent, even selfish, in the face of destruction. Personal problems can feel minuscule relative to the grave suffering and pressing global issues around the globe. But in crisis, self-care is one of the most selfless actions. Practicing the ability to self-soothe and improve our nervous system's response to stress will buffer the negative impacts of crisis and help us help others. Practicing self-soothing techniques is like building muscle; it will make us stronger and more resilient to crises. And as the legendary Mr. Rogers said, in times of disaster, "Look for the helpers." Contrary to what many may expect, the direst situations can lead people to be their best selves, serving others and coming together across difference. Looking for the helpers, learning to soothe your fight-flight-freeze response and building social connections will help you stay afloat when you feel like you are drowning in bad news. We might not be able to predict the future, but we can prepare for it using these strategies -- a future that might be filled with catastrophe but that is hopefully brighter and more beautiful than the present. THERE IS SOMETHING IN AMERICAN GOVERNMENT THAT DUTERTE HATES

There is something in the American government that angers President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a press conference held right after the President arrived from a state visit from Beijing China,He mentioned about the Davao blast way back on 2002 and a certain Michael Meiring,suspected to be responsible for the blast who was as well injured,who mysteriously disappeared after allegedly being brought to the hospital and vanished in thin air afterwards.

Who is Michael Meiring?

Michael Terrence Meiring,a US citizen,called himself a treasure hunter and joked about being with the C.I.A., meaning “Christ in Action.” He was sharing a hotel room in Duterte’s town of Davao City on the island of Mindanao with his ammonium nitrate bomb, which exploded on May 16, 2002 mangling his legs and damaging the hotel. Prior to the blast,Meiring told the hotel staff not to touch a metal box in his room, apparently with good reason.
Three days later, despite severe injuries and the charges against him, Mr. Meiring vanished from his hospital room. Philippine officials later said that men waving F.B.I. badges had taken him in the dark of night and flown him out of the country without their permission.

American white wash?
Almost immediately after the blast, security tightened around Meiring. Hawthorn ,Meirings friend told The Times:
“I was told by a Filipino in Davao, carrying a message from the US Embassy that Michael would never be charged with a crime in connection with the explosion. The investigation will end up at a stone wall. Michael will be protected and eventually taken back to the safety of the United States. The incident will be shortly forgotten, if you’re willing to forget it."

It is possible that somehow Meiring ended up back in the United States. He changed his last name to Van de Meer, but a reporter at a Houston TV station tracked him down and notified the Philippines.

He was never extradited, however, for the reason that the Philippines could not produce a photograph of him in custody to confirm his identity. Apparently, Meiring died in the U.S. in 2010 leaving behind his mess in Davao.

But the then Mayor Duterte cannot be outsmarted.The US government involvement in the "disappearing act" of Meiring resulted to the speculation that he was some US spook doing a mischief in Mindanao and somewhat connected to the terror groups in the region.

“When a bomb exploded at the airport followed by another explosion at the wharf several months after the hotel explosion that injured Meiring, that was when I started suspecting that the US could have had a hand in the said explosions. My suspicion was fueled when a military officer declared in public that the CIA have connections with known terror groups here,” Duterte said.

Unsurprisingly, Duterte is not a fan of the U.S. presence. He opposes the Balikatan, the joint US-Philippine military exercises, as disruptive to the peace process and communal harmony between Moro Muslims and Christians. In 2013, Duterte revealed he and his daughter ,Mayor Sarah Duterte of Davao refused to allow the U.S. to operate drones out of the old airport at Davao,that has been bombed in 2003.

So this is not all about the Meiring case but the US government's unsolicited involvement to the Philippines military affairs resulting to complicate things rather than resolve it.
During the Mamasapano encounter that claimed the lives of 44 Special Action Forces (SAF) troopers,the presence of "white men" was also noticed.What were these Americans doing in a legitimate Philippine forces operation that is obviously NOT a military exercise?

The US intervention of a criminal case against their citizen is definitely a bad taste.They do not respect the Philippine laws and bypassing the Philippine authorities.They could have extradited Meiring and let the Philippine due process roll for their "long term ally " to serve justice for the victims of the blasts,to show respect to the Philippines' rule of law and to the President of the Republic.
