Last January 30, 2017, a concert for public was held at Jeddah Saudi Arabia.
A concert for public was held after 7 years at the Red Sea Port, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Al Jasser says innovation is a key pillar of Arabian Centres’ growth strategy, as it targets second-tier cities in Saudi Arabia.
Khaled Al Jasser, CEO and heading the Arabian Centres
Al Salaam Mall is one of five Arabian Centres' properties in Jeddah.

According to Al Jasser, they are working out for the permit of the cinema's and Al Salaam Mall in Jeddah is one of them.
“It is new. It has been only a few months since the government has announced that it will allow cinemas in the country and that is probably one of the options most of our new malls will be equipped with — the facility to entertain.”
While the ultimate aim will be to operate the cinemas under its own company, Al Jasser concedes that Arabian Centres may have to bring in an existing cinema operator in the early stages.
“All options are open, and at the minute we are getting our license. I’m sure there will be lots of options. We could do it in-house, but definitely we will need an expertise to do it in the first phase,” he says.
While the licensing process is unchartered territory, Al Jasser is confident authorities will finalise it in the near future.
“The government is very keen to do it and they have appointed a minister to run that [entertainment]. We are waiting for them to give us the green light,” he says.
“Our malls are ready, and even in the old ones we could convert some of the facilities to host them.”
Al Jasser says there is undoubtedly a demand for cinemas in the kingdom.
“There is a huge, huge demand. People are desperate to see [them open], especially locally. You know that whenever Saudis go to Bahrain or Dubai, they go to these places a lot. I’m sure the demand is there. We are hoping that it will [be] done very soon.”
But Saudi Arabia's religious authority Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al al-Sheikh, says cinemas, song concerts are corrupting and harmful. Cinemas and public concerts are already banned in the kingdom, but gov’t promised a shake-up of the cultural scene with a set of ‘Vision 2030’ reforms.
The head of the government's General Authority for Entertainment, Amr al-Madani, stirred debate last week when he raised the possibility of opening cinemas and staging concerts this year.

COUNTING THE NUMBER OF DAYS OF EMPLOYEE'S ANNUAL VACATION IN SAUDI ARABIA

In a news report via Saudi Gazette, one of the leading English Newspaper in Saudi Arabia, it says, companies counting weekends (it's not clear if one day weekend which is Friday, or two-day weekend mostly for government employees which is Friday and Saturday) as part of an employee’s annual leave will have to pay a fine of up to SR100,000, news found at Makkah Arabic daily which quoted a Ministry of Labor source. Accordingly, in
the new Saudi Labor Law, the weekends are not supposed to be counted as part of the employees’ annual leave or year-end vacation. So if you have a one month vacation, you can apply for a 26 days vacation excluding 4 Fridays in the counting, or 22 days vacation, if you have 2 days off every weekend.

<
Here is an excerpt of that report:

“The ministry has recorded several cases where companies and employers exploit the ignorance of employees about their rights. Many companies count the weekends as part of annual vacation which is a clear violation of the Saudi Labor Law,” said the source.

“Weekends are official paid leaves. No company has the right to force its employees to work during the weekend and no company has the right to deduct salary for the weekends,” said the source.

Penalties for violating this regulation are usually monetary but sometimes administrative. The ministry has the right to increase the penalty stated under the law when the violation is repeated.Violators will be given a deadline to pay the fines. If the violator does not pay on time, the penalty and fine will be increased, said the source.

In certain cases, the ministry has the authority to close down the company for 30 days. If the violation is repeated, the ministry has the right to cancel the license of the company, said the source.

Saudi Arabia Does Not Plan To Start a War With Iran

KSA rules out Iran war
Saudi Arabia does not plan to start a war with Iran because it would be “catastrophic” for the region, according to Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Economist magazine published on Thursday, he said: “It is something that we do not foresee at all, and whoever is pushing toward that is somebody who is not in their right mind. Because a war between Saudi Arabia and Iran is the beginning of a major catastrophe in the region. ... For sure we will not allow any such thing.”

The deputy crown prince defended the Kingdom’s execution of a terrorist from the Shiite community in the interview. “The court did not, at all, make any distinction between whether or not a person is Shiite or Sunni. They are reviewing a crime, and a procedure, and a trial, and a sentence and carrying out the sentence.”

Saudi Arabia vs Iran: The oil war that isn't coming

"Iran has already said that it plans to ramp up production, aiming to export an additional million barrels per day into global markets within six months — a move that its oil minister says is "not seeking to disrupt the market," but instead help Iran regain lost market share. And while most reports say Iran and Saudi Arabia could increase their production until the price is into the single digits, experts told CNBC that the two Middle Eastern powers won't take things that far.
"I think [Iran's] primary interest will be their own economic priorities," said Hani Sabra, the head of Eurasia Group's Middle East and North Africa practice. "And their desire to sell oil is not driven by a desire to drive the price down to hurt the Saudis; it's driven by a desire to make money."
According to Again Capital's John Kilduff, "the math is simple" to show that Iran would make more money selling fewer barrels at a higher price."

OFWs and Expats Need To Close Bank Account Before Exit

Expats and Overseas Filipinos working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are advised to close their bank accounts prior to exiting the Kingdom.
In a report via Arab News
"The Interior Ministry (of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) has warned citizens and residents to be careful with their bank accounts by not allowing anyone to use their accounts for terrorism-related purposes.
Specifically, security expert Nayef Al-Marwani said that these bank accounts remain a dangerous security breach and may help in the financing of terrorism electronically between individuals. He added that most cases of terrorism depend on such modes of electronic finance, which is proven to have been used to fuel the events of Sept. 11, 2001 in the United States.
Al-Marwani said that it was essential that the parties concerned are made aware of this and make closing their accounts prior to departing the Kingdom a top priority.
Al-Marwani also suggested that as soon as expats apply for their final exit visa, this should be contingent upon the person closing their bank account prior to the visa being supplied."

OFW in SAUDI ARABIA, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO KEEP YOUR PASSPORT

via DFA: The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh reiterates to all Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia that, under Saudi and Philippine law, they have the right to keep and hold on to their Philippine passports while working in Saudi Arabia.
The Philippine passport is considered to be the property of the Republic of the Philippines and only the bearer has the right to keep it in his custody.
The Embassy firmly reminds companies and employers in Saudi Arabia who continue to keep their foreign workers’ passports, as a matter of practice and against the workers’ will, that they are violating Saudi law, specifically Council of Ministers Resolution No. 166 dated 12/04/1421H (14 July 2000) which clearly states that “every employee has the right to keep his passport in his custody.”
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated to the Embassy this week that this rule remains in effect and that any overseas Filipino worker (OFW) whose passport has been kept by their employer has a right to complain to the Ministry of Labor or the police.

"The Ministry of Labor has warned private sector companies and establishments against withholding passports of their expatriate employees in violation of a Council of Ministers' decision issued in this connection more than a year ago.
The ministry said employers who fail to implement the directives would face severe penalties, according to Akhbaar24 website.
