The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board warns taxi drivers who will refuse to convey passengers or those who do not use taxi meters but set a contract instead will face heavy penalties that may include cancellation of franchise.
The LTFRB will implement "Oplan Suplado" starting today, which aims to reprimand abusive taxi drivers who violate franchising laws like refusing to convey passenger, non-usage of taxi meters or non-issuance of taxi receipts.
Complaints from taxi commuters has been flooding LTFRB about abusive taxi drivers who would not agree to give them a ride if their destination is near, or had to agree for a certain contract first before they can take a ride. These incidents usually happen during holiday season and the prompt implementation of "Oplan Suplado" will be a great help for the commuters.
