DSWD: Senior Citizens Will Receive Php 6,000 in 2016


The DSWD funding for 2016 is expected to increase, according to the proposal submitted this increase in funds will help establish a program for the benefit of senior citizens. 


Senator Ralph Recto said, “Funding for the DSWD-run Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program will increase from the current P5.96 billion to P7.51 billion next year...The proposal that we received is that all indigent seniors 60 years old and above will be covered by the proposed allocation.”




“With the increased budget, the department could now serve more older persons in need,” Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman said.

According to records about 250,000 senior citizens in the Philippines will benefit from this. Those senior citizens who are registered as such in DSWD will be receiving Php 6,000  next year or Php 500 monthly allowance. 


In order to qualify for this program senior citizens needed to qualify and process their registration as senior citizen in DSWD. To inquire about this program, senior citizens could visit the DSWD office in their municipality.
