During one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, more than 1 million people are expected to pass through the busiest international airport as the city marks UAE spring break.

An estimated 260,000 travelers were expected to pass through each day from Friday through Monday. Dubai International Airport expects 89 million passengers this year.

The United States announced a ban on all electronics larger than a standard smartphone on board direct flights out of eight countries across the middle East.
That means your tablet is banned too!

US officials would not specify how long the ban will last, but Dubai-based Emirates told AFP that it had been instructed to enforce it until at least October 14. The United States and Britain have cited intelligence indicating passenger jets could be targeted with explosives planted in such devices.

Government-owned Emirates operates 18 flights daily to the United States out of Dubai. In an attempt to appease its customers, the airline announced it would be offering complimentary packing and shipping services at gates to enable passengers to use their electronic devices after check-in and until boarding.

The Burj Al Arab (Tower of the Arabs) is the world's only 7 star hotel and designed to resemble a billowing sail, the Burj Al Arab soars to a height of 321 metres, dominating the Dubai skyline making it the fourth tallest hotel in the world.
The natural seawater inlet that cuts through the centre of the city is the historical part of Dubai where visitors can take an abra (small water taxi) and view the old trading port and the dhows from the water.

For the past 15 years, Global Village has been providing cultural entertainment along with an international shopping experience to millions of visitors.
Located in front of the  Burj Al Arab, Wild Wadi offers 30 rides and attractions for all the family.

Part of the old Al Quoz industrial district centered on Alserkal Avenue is going through a regeneration to become Dubai's main arts hub and is already home to some of the city's most important contemporary art galleries.

This strip of sandy white bliss is the number one beach destination for Dubai visitors.
Jumeirah Mosque is considered by many to be the most beautiful of Dubai's mosques.
This long stretch of white-sand beach, south of Jumeirah beach, isn't just a top destination for sunbathers looking to lap up a lazy day of swimming and soaking up the rays on the sand.
Mall of the Emirates is one of the city's most famous malls with the spectacular (and surreal) Ski Dubai facility inside.
