NO MORE PLACEMENT FEE: New Zealand and Philippines Agreement

style="display: inline-block; height: 280px; width: 336px;">
Unemployment is something serious that the Philippine government has to look into. This is the number 1 reason why so many Filipinos end up as overseas worker or OFW.

The heartbreaking part is,  many OFWs leave their families with hopes that they could save their family from poverty. Only to end up in massive debt ,incurred so that they could pay the processing and,  placement fees -which could be as much as the equivalent 1 month salary or more on other agencies who are trying to extort money in illegal way.

The POEA ruled out that OFWs hired as domestic workers, caregivers and seafarers are NOT to be charged with placement fee.
There is also  no placement fees for OFWs bound for:
  • US ( under H2B visa)
  • Canada
  • United Kingdom
  • Ireland
  • Netherlands

And for workers bound to other countries (not domestic worker, caregiver and seafarer), placement fee cannot exceed the equivalent of 1 month salary, AND MUST BE collected only AFTER SIGNING THE CONTRACT.

In addition, Philippines and New Zealand recently entered into agreement to implement NO-PLACEMENT POLICY.
Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, also said that they are working to further eliminate other recruitment related fees for OFWs bound to New Zealand.
